Topic: UI suggestion

Sol, would it be possible to include the REGULAR REVIEW & INLINE REVIEW buttons on the top of chapters as well as the bottom?  I know it's a small thing, but 98% of the time I click into a title, I know going in that I'm going to review it. Having to click in, scroll to the bottom, click becomes cumbersome. Half the time I've forgotten to scroll to click into the in-line pane and try to highlight text before I'm in the review mode. Then I lose my place, yada, yada, yada. It's frustrating.

Any chance?

There is an in-line button at the top. A review button at the top doesn't make much sense since the content needs to be read all the way through.

But sometimes you read a work/chapter and let it rumble in the back of your mind, then come back to it.  I often do that.

If you don't want the review button, how about a link that takes us down to the place where the review buttons are?

How do you define 'that difficult'.  Hw do you weigh the development effort and possible inconvenience (to someone who hits the button accidentally, perhaps?) against the gain in time and preserved mental concentration of the users who benefit?

Of course, I still think that moving the 'negative' links under each of these posts to the side opposite the quote and edit buttons would be a good use of development (and testing) effort.

If there's an inline button at the top, I'm not seeing it. I just went and checked.   And no, it's not a gigantic issue to scroll, but I'm noticing on full novel reviews, it does become an irritation.  I even tried using the small "next" button hoping it would keep me in IN-line mode for the next chapter and no joy.

Having the button at the top or bottom will not effect anyone who is still deciding if they want to review something. But it would make it tons more efficient for those who go into a next chapter already knowing they're going to review it.

I agree with NJC's suggestion. Replace the IL Review button with a Reviews button that takes you to the bottom where one finds both the regular and inline review buttons, as well as all of the existing reviews. It's not a huge inconvenience as currently implemented, except for scrolling through long chapters, but it isn't consistent UI design. Having the inline button at the top constantly causes me to leave inline reviews for new members without thinking about whether they can read them. They then ask me to do a regular review instead. And *that* is a big inconvenience. Naturally, you may get flak for changing the IL Reviews button to a Reviews button as suggested here. It's one extra click to start an inline review. It would, however, be useful and consistent.

There are four boxes to the bottom right of the book cover; the in-line review is highlighted in yellow between the "shelfit" (in blue) and "print" (in burgundy) boxes, second from the right. Take care. Vern
