I’m only dipping my toe in the water because if serial commas were a crime, I’d be on death-row. Not because I’m blessed with good aim, to the contrary, I’m dyslexic. So I throw them around like confetti. It’s a little game I play with myself called, “pin-the-comma-on-the-donkey.”
A friend of mine, a stenographer, has a plaque in her kitchen. “Commas save lives.” Underneath are two examples: “Let’s eat grandma” or “Let’s eat, grandma."
Thanks to the likes of Marilyn Johnson (my Comma Queen) and Jack the Knife (my Grammar Warden), all my commas, hyphens, dashes, colons, and semicolons may one day land in their proper place by themselves, and hopefully, no one has to die in the process.
Cheers

Congrats! The book looks fabulous. Love the cover. Great story! It must feel wonderful to hold your new baby. You deserve ever bit of its success. And I so appreciate your time in reviewing and line-editing my work.
All my best'

I agree with Christine. As a newbie, I don’t feel qualified to do a line-edit, especially since I throw punctuation around like confetti. But I do offer regular reviews and reciprocate with reviewers.  And try not to late the day go by without a reply. And when someone reviews me, I immediately jump on the edit and make corrections. I’ve been on this site for 6-weeks, and can see a vast improvement with my writing, thanks to the reviews. That’s why I’m here, to learn.
Not to have my ego stroked.
That’s my two cents.

Conrats Jack! Not to toot my horn, but once-upon-a-time I did sales and marketing, for a restaurant. But the steps don't change, just the music. Has your publisher got you set-up with book-signings outside of the usual Barnes & Noble stores?
If you can leave the chapters posted for a few more days, (hint, hint) maybe I can get caught-up and leave a review ;-)

Welcome to all new comers. I'm still new and wobbly. But everyone has been very supportive. And thank you, Jack for being such a good neighbor.
Really, really like this site. In just the short time I've been here, I've learned so much from the seasoned veterans and talented writers here.

I have to agree with you, Clark As a newbie, I was fortunate during my first few days on this site to be immediately greeted by a small, yet nurturing community of writers. And have continued to connect with some very talent authors.
The point that is being missed here is that a review/line-edit needs to be delivered in a constructive, thoughtful, and conscientious tone so as to guide the author, not dismember them.
As the saying goes, “Those who live in glass houses shouldn't...blah, blah, blah.” And if they do, they should be censured and censored.
That’s my two cents.

Christine, I have been on this site for only a week, and have already been critique by some of the seasoned writers like Marilyn and Clark. Everyone is very supportive.

A big thanks to everyone who has viewed, and reviewed my work thus far. This has been a wonderful learning experience. It has helped me reflect and refine the direction of my book.

Happy New Year to everyone.  I am new to the site. I just posted a few chapters from my book: Chasing Summer, and I look forward to reading everyone else's work.
