You may not like this, but I think one way to improve the story would be to make Helga more mysterious. You could make Anna more of a main character, so that the reader is always guessing 'it's anna,' 'no, it's melissa', 'no, it's athens', until a specific point in time. The storyline is already very captivating because we're always wondering what's going to happen next, but it could add a new dimension if the reader is in the dark about whose body is hosting Helga.

Comments from Sheriff Norm:
I feel Athens needs to talk to Helga, both realizing they are stuck in the same body. they need be friends. When Athens gets in a jam, Helga can ask if she wants her to take care of it? And Helga should never say anything negative about Athens. Athens loves Patrick, Helga loves Oxford. So they swamp places to be with their loves. When Helga is conscious, Athens doesn't remember what she did, she is surprised later until Helga tells her what she did. Then she is embarrassed or pleased depending on the situation. AFter chapter 35, when Athens is thrown from the car and saved, and Patrick comes running up to her, she is totally unaware of what happened when she was first kidnapped and asked Helga to help her. Patrick can't figure what is happening. And about this time in the story, Athens finally admits to Patrick what is happening. And he has to believe. He witnessed it. He tells Athens what happened and his father tried to kill him for the brotherhood, but now he is dead, too. Athens is sympathetic to Patrick and they make love right there in the bushes. Voila, what an ending. PS, you need Buchanan in the car too, explainiing to no 700 why giviing up his son is a small price to pay for the reward of catching Helga the demon. And father arguing but finally tearfully submitting.

forget publishing for a moment. You don't have a box for your story or my Radio Revolution here. Let me open the forums on your Heaven and Hell work.
FYI - there is a box for you, it's here!

Re: WIP The Best Laid Plans by Suin (31 replies, posted in Close friends)
I see there are two main things I need to incorporate into previous chapters to make this one make more sense.
1: Her mother doesn't want her to be a ballerina. She wants her to get a good education, find a nice man, come back to the village, marry and provide her with grandchildren. She doesn't want Sarah to travel the world, because she wants her family to be close to her.
2: Sarah's a people-pleaser. She's determined when it comes to ballet, but makes a lot of decisions only to please others. I tried to show this in earlier chapters (eg. she mentions to Hugh she started university to make her mum happy, she drinks those shots with her friends, and Jack and Alicia call her a pushover).
If I enhance this part of her personality, I hope it will make more sense that she's agreeing to whatever people say, just to keep the peace, but in her mind, she's dying to escape.
Last - she can't hate Hugh for getting her pregnant. She's reasonable & knows it takes two to tango ;-)

Re: Our bios (6 replies, posted in Close friends)
Good idea to create such a group!! It’ll be great to have a chance to further discuss the characters and plot in such a group!
I’m from Ireland and live in London, although I’m starting to get itchy feet and plan to move by the end of the summer (I like to move around a lot)
I turned 30 a few weeks ago, and have just celebrated my one year wedding anniversary to a wonderful Spanish man. He’s teaching me Spanish but it’s coming along slowly.
I work for an international manufacturing company in project management for Human Resources, so I travel a lot - mainly between London, Dublin and Amsterdam, which means I’m often waking up at 4 in the morning for flights and trains, and the rest of the time I work from home in London, which means I often wear pyjamas all day
Writing is my 'dirty little secret'. None of my friends or family know about this hobby of mine. My husband knows I write, but has no idea what I write about. Before joining this site, I had never shown my writing to anyone, so it was a terrifying moment to publish that first chapter, but since then I’ve had so much fun here. My other interests are boxing, yoga, running, photography and food!

Just curious - how many actively posting members are there in this group?
Whenever I look at the new writing on the homepage, it seems to be mostly crime, fantasy and sci-fi. While I do review them, because some of them are really great, it seems to me there isn't a lot of romance out there.

This is all really good advice, I especially like the idea of a calendar to keep the timeline in order!
I've already spent a lot of time this evening trawling through storyfix, on your suggestion, what a great website!
Thanks for the tips

Topic: Plot Mapping (7 replies, posted in TheNextBigWriter Premium)
Hi all,
I was wondering if anybody has any tips or tricks for mapping out plots?
The first work I posted on this site, 'Being Fifteen', was written without any planning & I pretty much let the story write itself, but I'd like to take a more strategic approach to writing & develop plots & sub-plots further. I came across JK Rowling's illegible plot notes, which seem to be a good start, but wanted to know, does anybody else have anything worth sharing?
Thanks,
Siun

Google Docs is great! It has pretty much all the functionality of Microsoft Word plus other features. It's absolutely free. You only need a gmail account to use it.

Re: General Comments Section (281 replies, posted in Alpha to Omega - Review Group)
Thanks for welcoming me into the group. Great idea for a group as it can be very frustrating to have a lot of reviews of the first chapter and a lot less later on!
I hope you all enjoy my work, Being Fifteen. It may not appeal to you at first as it starts out quite YA, but it does end somewhere a little darker and more serious. My main concern is that the plot needs deepening from the start, for this reason. Also, to note, I am from Ireland so my use of the language will differ slightly from yours.
I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and get reviewing. Where should I start? I see Stefanie Dubois is at the top of the list, so I imagine that's where?! One review in 20 days sounds more than achievable!
