The Girl Who Lost the Earth, Book two.

It seems a few of the reviewers from our group have jumped from book one to book two without completing the chapters in between.
I believe the confusion arises due to there being two versions of Book one. The A to O version has all the chapters of book one, the Krudge version has a partial list. I created the partial version to enable publishing of new chapters to the greater NBW audience.

For our group purposes, please use the A to O version.

Thanks.

Matthew

It appears Stephanie's novel is still unavailable.

Completed a review of njc's Sorcerer's Progress Book 1, chapters 1 and 2

Completed a review of Suin's Being Fifteen, chapter 3

I've completed reviews for chapters 17 and 18 of Alkemi's Souring Seas.

Completed a review of Jube's new chapter 3 in The World of Phyries.

You'll have to read the first three chapters to get a sense of things, but they've been reviewed thoroughly. So, I don't mind if you start with chapter #four.

As soon as I finish incorporating changes from the reviews of the last two chapters of Book one, I'm moving them to Book two. It seems a better fit to put them in Book two's war theme.

Completed reviews of Chapters 7 and 8 in CJ's, "Raven's Curse".

A question for Randall and any others of our group that have published. How polished does your submissions have to be? Is it more common to float a first chapter around and expect to work with the editor to finish the rest?

I look at the reviews as a type of conversation. From that perspective, it would be rude not to respond  in a timely fashion. Part of the response is incorporating corrections. As some of you may have noticed I put a revision time stamp in the chapter descriptions. I wish this was a more common practice. This has proven useful to a number of reviewers to send a message to me about the chapter changes. I agree with Randall that it is rare to receive the same nits. Once the grammar nits are corrected the reviews focus on more meaty matters.

Is there a new rotation list now that NJC is added? If there is, somehow I missed it. Hey, Jube, maybe we should have the rotation list as it's own sticky so it won't get lost.

Tanessa's last talk with him is a subtle Chekov gun. Johan does not get much face time but he's a major plot mover. He leads the expedition back to Earth, sends his grandson to meet with Taikei and Akira, ensures Tanessa is successful in the naming ceremony, conducts the abduction of the Syndicate leaders and the cybercriminals, and warns the MiBBs about the prisoners. He prepares Tanessa for her future destiny and sacrifices himself to prevent the total elimination of humanity. I have to figure a better way of portraying that last part. The sidebar scene should help.

One of the issues I have in revealing Johan's identity is that he's avoiding detection by the MiBBs. He knows his treason will be detected eventually but he needs all the time he can to put his plans in place. I was thinking of doing a sidebar sort of thing, showing a scene with Johan after the transmission discussing why he's doing what he did, and so on.

Now I've hinted in book one (Colony a Bye Bye) during Tanessa's conversation with Johan that he see his impending death. That his mission is to mitigate the MiBBs crusade. Part of this is done by informing Earth of the impending invasion. So, should I reveal in the Command Center chapter that he is "Nightstalker" or wait till a  later point?

How to make an Anti-Hero.
In my novel Jenny is not a villain but an Anti-Hero. A villain intentionally wants to create pain and suffering, an Anti-Hero intends well but creates evil nonetheless.

So, what's the best way to portray an Anti-Hero?

Book two transition.
For those who have read CH 10A, Last Stand at the MiBB Cathedral. Does this feel like a fitting end to book one?

If you have started Book two. Does Command Center feel like a good intro for book two or should CH 10B, Earth Departure be the starting point?

Well, shuffle off to Buffalo and watch the world go by. I've been lagging this summer and return to find you all laying down track on the horizon. Kudos to all, I've much to catch up on. I reviewed chapters one and two of Randall's "Cartel's Revenge".
