Maybe my tactic is flawed but I figured I would self publish the first book and then work on a following before submitting to a publisher. Is it better to do both?

Interesting. I had Tolkien in my mind when it came to separating books, that each held together on a theme and transitioned on a plot event. Only the Hobbit came in under a 100, 000 words.

I will be switching my pattern of writing to post chapters from Book 2 and 3 and other stories. Lately, I haven't been able to coral my inner muse just to Book 1.
