Hi all!
I've taken some time off from writing due to a family medical emergency, but am trying to get back in the swing of things. I am slowly posting reviews & chapters here and I have revived my blog.
For those of you with published works interested in some cross-promotion, I am doing character interviews on my blog this May. The theme is moms. If you have a mom character you would like to feature, please contact me by March 31st. I feature books rated G to R. I generally ask 5-10 questions of your character, include the book blurb & cover art, as well as author & buy links.
Happy writing!
-Audra (Squarepeg)

I had another author suggest going through Broad Universe. Apparently they'll put your a book on Net Galley for $25 & they will screen requests. I've never used them but they'd be worth looking into for that price!

Mrs. Piddles - I can send you the details & Qs and you can see if you can make it work. If not, I'll be doing another guest author blog thingy this spring. Thanks!

This February I'm doing another guest author spotlight on my blog. I'm looking at doing character interviews with hunky heroes ... If you're a published author & would like to promote your book on my site contact me at audramiddle@yahoo.com by Jan. 10th & I'll send you the details.

OK - so I had a blog tour company put my book up on Net Galley for the month of November. In that time, I got 9 reviews and have 11 more approved requests pending. My tour company charged $60 to set it up and screen the requests for me. I did not have to join Net Galley to do this. Anyway - it was less work than a blog tour for about the same price - but I'm honestly not sure if it provides more or less 'exposure.' The tour company I used was "My Addiction is Reading" if you are interested.

Anyone know anything about Netgalley reviews? I signed up for it through a blog tour company I sometimes work with - not really having a clue what it's all about - LOL. It cost as much as a blog tour - but I've already have gotten about as many reviews as my last blog tour, with at least 10 more people lined up (and dozens more requesting it - but my blog tour company is screening the requests for me). Anyway, just curious if you all knew anything about it.

Thanks- got one posted properly. The other gives me an error when I try to pull it up. I'll remember to hit submit not save next time, though!

For some reason my last set of reviews I tried to post didn't get finalized & are showing as drafts. I can't seem to access these 'drafts'. Do I need to redo the whole review? Why is it not submitting when I hit submit?

Hey guys! I'm doing my second annual villain visitation fest on my blog in October. If you have an antagonist from a published novel that you would like to feature, email me at audramiddle@yahoo.com or message me here. It was a successful promo last year.

Sounds good! Thanks!

I'll be doing author interviews on my blog again this June. The theme is "June Jests." If anyone has a published novel with a strong humor element, contact me about getting on the schedule. I don't have an age-restricted site, so no x-rated material. I will have a few writing/humor related Qs, some 'this or that', & will include your blurb, cover art, & buy links. My interviews usually get decent traffic.

Sol - what type of Facebook advertising worked for you? My first ad was a freebie & generated oodles of page likes - my second ad, which was a paid effort, was a flop.

I've heard the more reviews you have, the more your book will show up in Amazon searches. Whether or not that's true - positive reviews certainly can't hurt! I know I'm personally much more apt to purchase a product if it has at least 3 positive reviews. Getting bloggers to review your book can be quite helpful as they have their own followers and many post their reviews to Amazon & Goodreads as well - so lots of potential exposure there. As to how much time should you spend on them - that's a tough question. I try to spend most of my marketing efforts on the stuff I enjoy doing, while dabbling in other things to stretch myself & test new markets.

Hoping we can suggest blog tour companies here - offer links & brief descriptions of any blog tour companies or (exchange groups) you all have had a good experience with.

I've used My Reading Addiction Blog Tours several times. They have some reasonable packages, offer tours for a variety of genres, and you can specify what you type of feature you prefer (reviews, guest blog posts, interviews, etc). I like using them but I'd also like more tour company options, especially ones that specialize in specific genres. Share if you know any!

The tour is that every day for a period of time, your book is featured in some way on various blogs. Each blog has regular readers, so you get exposure. It is good form for the author to check out each feature & leave a comment, responding to any comments left by others when appropriate. I always promote each stop on my website, fanpage, etc so my followers can see the reviews & hopefully be convinced to buy my latest book. My friends often share the links to particularly stunning reviews, leading to more exposure. But no - there's not a lot of direct interaction. I know authors who plan their own tours - asking bloggers for reviews & features to promote a new release. A tour company takes the legwork out of it, but there's a fee.

The blog tour companies I have worked with didn't have live chats that I know of, but there are usually some comments from readers at various stops. Some review sites get lots of traffic. The reviews are quite helpful, especially if they post them to Amazon & Goodreads.

I have seen live chats & forums in Yahoo Groups. Coffee Time Romance & Love and Romance Cafe are two such reader groups my publisher is affiliated with. I am sure there are other groups that represent other genres as well that provide promo forums & live chat opportunities.

I'm hoping we could use this thread to suggest possible Blog Tour promotion companies. If you know of one that you're happy with, give us a brief description of them/your experience & post the link.

I'd love to see a forum or something where we could list & rate writer resources. For instance, I would love to check out some new blog tour companies, have some free-lance editors to recommend, etc. and having a list to refer to would be super helpful. I suppose we create a new 'group/forum' for it but we're all limited to 5 groups & I'd love everyone to be able to make use of it.
