Topic: No feedback AT ALL

So, I became a member of this group a while back, and to my dismay, NOBODY has reviewed my biography Psycho Path. After 4 months of stagnancy and no recognition, i am reconsidering joining this group. What good is publishing a story if nobody reads it? -_-

Re: No feedback AT ALL

You received a review from MaryN in March.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

Review and you get reviewed. Dagnee is telling you the truth.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

A word to the wise, when you review others don't ask them to review your work and don't tell them you're only leaving a review for points. If you're writing a novel, find a few writers on here with active novels. While some writers here will read and review all types of writing, those posting only poetry don't need as many points to post, so are less likely to read and review long chapters. Many writers on this site already have a group of people they reciprocate with and are hesitant to add someone new. The best way to encourage people to reciprocate is to review multiple pieces of their work and leave good quality reviews (*see my first point).

Re: No feedback AT ALL

From the FAQ section found by clicking on the ? mark -

1. How can I get more readers and reviews?

2. If you are not getting as many reads and reviews as you may like, there are several things you can do.

3. Find other writers you like and provide them with thoughtful, helpful reviews. This is the best way to begin building a reputation and getting    others to review you.

4. Find a group with an active forum and introduce yourself. Join some of the conversations and get to know other members of the group.

5. Upgrade to a Premium Membership to begin using the points system. The points system provides an incentive for other members to read and review your writing.

Be helpful, courteous, and give it time. If you become an active, helpful member of your group, you will attract many reviews over time.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

A few things to note: Your saying NOBODY has reviewed you is incorrect; you had at least one in-line review in March (PS: that's when you joined so it hasn't been 4 months as you stated). You might check their comments and your response to see if you could do something different to encourage the continuation of reviews.

Your user name might create some confusion since you haven't posted any poems.  I for one would think you were a poet looking at your name and most likely wouldn't look up your profile and/or portfolio to see if anything interested me. I review very few poems and those are generally from folks I've come to know through other genres. Perhaps I'm not the only one.

You have posted very few reviews (and no in-lines) for other writers considering the amount of time you have been a member; reviews beget reviews - good ones at least.

Your timing just might be a little off. You could have come to the forums and asked politely how you might receive more reviews and most likely you would have gotten significant response just as you did from this post which has already precipitated several reviews. Just maybe an earlier request could have lessened your frustration level considerably.

Just a few thoughts to ponder. Good luck. Take care. Vern

Edited for PS in text above.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

Unfortunately, as others have said, this site isn't very review friendly if you don't put in some quality reciprocal work first. And by quality, I mean earnest effort. It also might help you to consider that everyone has to go through that exact same process. It takes time to build up connections because everyone here is splitting their time between writing, reviewing, and living life.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

Well said, Linda.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

I know I have reviewed you. I would be nice for you to acknowledge and respond and then recip. That's how this site works. You will get if you give.

Re: No feedback AT ALL

Dear poeticpasion21

Other important thing that you MUST do is to acknowledge the reviews you receive. By doing so, you show the people who reviewed you that you care about  what they wrote, and about the time they spent reading and reviewing your work. This post generated several reviews, so far I see you have answered none. At least a "thank you"  would be expected.

That's one of the ways in which you secure continuous feedback and build strong relationships within TNBW.

Kiss,

Gacela.
