Topic: Who needs an extra review?

Had a few, but still looking for an additional, productive, respectful critique of your novel/novella-length manuscript before submitting? I'm looking to collect at least a hundred points, preferably in a pleasant, binge reading manner, so... Point the way. No first drafts, please. Anything goes, except, with all due respect, chick lit.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

At this point, I need to rework my volume and a half of The Sorcerer's Progress, but you're welcome to earn points and I will read what you wrote, and maybe reply.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Well, it's so good of you to 'maybe reply.' I didn't ask for anything in return. I'll pass.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

I'm planning to post Chapters 6 - 10 of LADY SILVER later today. I'd be glad to have your opinions on it, Ray. There will be points involved, of course. I'd be appreciative for any and all reviews.

As a side note: I remember seeing somewhere that this forum has over 11,000 people signed up for it. That was one of the reasons I joined the site. That's a hell of a lot of exposure but there must a shit-pot of inactive people out there. I don't have my postings set for internet view (or whatever the setting it - the name escapes me at the moment). Maybe a seasoned member can tell me if more reviews are possible with the broadest availability setting? I shied away from the open to all setting because of concerns about people ripping off my stuff. Is that a baseless concern, or not?

And I still plan to hit the rest of your postings, Ray, as soon as I get done making a bit of cash on the side here. I'm almost finished with my wonderful dissertation on the importance of maintaining proper eye health. Then I'll get back to the shit I _really_ want to be doing.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

They'll be reviewed by the time you wake up tomorrow morning. If I live. If you publish from here straight onto the Internet, it's considered published by agents. Also, yeah, it may get ripped off.  Big no no.    :o)

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Ray is right. Don't publish it to the internet if the book is to be sold in stores/Amazon/etc.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Agree with Ray and Dirk

Re: Who needs an extra review?

I could use a binge review. I want to publish my book, "Exile in Elsewhen," early in 2020. So far, my steadfast, loyal reviewers have gotten to a little over halfway. You can make a lot of points reading, but warning you, it is 750 pages, and that's after a serious cut.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

750 pages? I eat those for breakfast. Will check it out.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Ray, I don't really need reviews for my novel Root Hog or Die, but you're welcome to see if it perks your interest. The chapters are relatively long for this site so the points add up quickly. Just give me a broad overview if it holds your interest or any blaring mistakes if you wish. Some small things have been edited in the master copy but not on site so no need to get bogged down in the detail. And if dialect or colloquialisms are not your cup of tea, you might want to ignore this. If you do decide, please pay attention to any bold notes at the end or beginning of chapters since some things have been moved around and the notes will guide you to where you should go under certain circumstances. Easy points up for grabs should you desire as I continue my search for an agent/publisher. Take care. Vern

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Ray, my chapters are long, my points are large.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Hello, Ray.

Look for my stories, Chainsaw, Nit, and A Matter of When, among others. Those three combined will net you near twenty credits. All that's needed is fifty words each in a regular review. That's one hunnert fifty words for darn near twenty credits! You already done reviewed up my Frankenstein-creation, ten-credit monster Unpelted. So that's out of play. But I have others that are credit-rich. And a few that are above-middling. (I like to write long. I think Unpelted is the single longest post on the site.)

Edit: I went back and checked the credit count for the stories mentioned. The first three actually do add up to twenty. A smidge over. Add Unpelted to that and you have thirty credits for four reviews. Two hunnert words! What can you do with thirty credits? Also, there's Mother of Grub, worth another five or so--though that one might be a difficult read for some.

Re: Who needs an extra review?

Howdy, Charles!

1. Thanks for your reviews of the Divide. Will get back to you on those.

2. I never pass up a Blue Light sale, particularly not when it concerns manuscripts by such a talented writer as yourself. Will dig in shortly.

Best, as always

Ray
