Topic: Greetings!

My name is Brett Matthew West.  I just joined this site and am looking forward to discovering what it is all about.  My main reason for joining is so I can finalize my book Astatula for publication.  The general overview of the book is:  orphaned at ten years old after his father perishes in a car crash, Cody Schroder becomes the ward of the sheriff of Astatula.  Can his guardian turn him, and his life, around in a small, west Texas town where a deranged mass murderer runs loose?  The genre contains elements of murder, mystery, thriller, and young adult.  I have posted the first chapter that I call Astatula and will have the second chapter up on the site today.  Any and all constructive feedback is welcomed.

I'm still a newbie myself. I've been here two weeks, maybe. And I am seriously in love and completely addicted. I've gotten the most constructive feedback on my writing EVER! I can tell a difference in the way I approach my writing already, and I think there's actually been some improvement in what I write. (Which proves you can teach an old dog new tricks.)

Best advice: go premium! Bite the bullet, cough up the fee and collect those points! It is really much easier than it sounds and it's fun, too.

Welcome to the site, Brett.  And Bobbie is right, go premium. (Put yourself on a Starbucks budget if you have to or collect cans and bottles for the deposit. Dumpster dive and sell what you find.) You will find the feedback invaluable. Plus you get a sense of who your audience is and worst case scenario--you have an audience.
