Topic: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

My Bookshelf publications have gone missing. I had two of them, but nothing is showing now. I tried to add one, but was told it was already in the list. One point of interest is that it is happening on Booksie as well, so it must be some change Sol, or the hosting service, made to the underlying code.

Anyone else having this problem.

Bill

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

I just checked and my Bookshelf publications are missing as well.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

We are having a problem with Amazon. We are looking into other solutions. More to come.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

That'snot the only problem--we're having trouble with font size.  See Vern's post.  JP

That's strange. We didn't change anything with font size. Can someone send me a screenshot. I'm not able to recreate the problem. Thanks!

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Mine seem to have gone missing, too. And when I try adding, absolutely nothing happens.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Mine too.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Yes, Amazon changed their protocol. For now, you may want to link to any books you have published via your profile. It's unclear if Amazon is going to allow us to show the bookshelf anymore. We're looking into some alternatives.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Bummer. I'll send them a complaint and ask them why they changed.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

That's ridiculous and I'm sure they just had a bad morning when they thought of that one.  Their success rests on the success of the authors, and this is basic self-promotion.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

I just now logged onto my Amazon author account and sent a trouble chit to them concerning how they've changed their method of linking to our books off-site. Have no idea if it will help, but maybe if more of us do it, someone might reconsider and change it back to the way it was.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Thanks. It can't hurt.

So how do we post those links, Sol?

Stick it in your profile ...

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

I know how to copy and paste, but I don't see where I can do that in my profile, unless I edit my bio and add it there.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Okay, I added the Amazon links to my books to the bio on my profile page. I think they work.

Attaboy...

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Out of curiosity, I tried entering links to individual books via the old bookshelf method and got no results. The I tried cutting and pasting the link in my bio, but it didn't act as a link. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. Unless you know how to insert HTML code for a URL link, people will have to Copy/Paste the reference into a browser to see your publications. I'm hoping Sol will come up with something to help us with that.

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

I copied and pasted the Amazon links to my books onto my profile page. You have to highlight the link, then right click on it, then click on the Go to... It's working for my links.

Still not working. I did get a notice--something about my browser, and a box to paste the link, but it still didn't work. Don't concern yourselves--the shelf is not my big worry. I can wait until Sol arranges something else for us.
oh, wait--is that howto use the link, once it's pasted into the profile?

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Yes!

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

Now I've got it! Thanks!

Re: Bookshelf publications have gone missing!!

you should remove everything after /ref= so that Amazon cannot track how users are arriving at your story (which may negatively impact your reviews)
