Topic: Site Bug

Hi Sol,

Something strange has happened to my profile this morning. When I click on View Public Profile, the link brings me to my profile but the postings it displays under 'Featured by Author' aren't my postings. 'When the Road Darkens' by Brian Lancaster and 'Redemption, Junior Walker & me', which I can't view appear instead.

When I click on my portfolio, I see all of my own work (what a relief - I thought it was all gone!)

I've saved a screenshot if you need to see it but can't figure out how to share it here.

Re: Site Bug

Oh, I just checked mine and it's showing the same thing.  Not my work.

Re: Site Bug

Me too, but when you click on "Author's Posting" button, it brings up your own work.

Same here.  While clicking on the Author's posts does bring up mine, I've never read anything from the two listed under featured by author. This will be very misleading to readers who don't realize there's a problem.

Just checked a dozen different writers and they all have the same two listings under featured by author.

They are all like that.   Even Sol’s.  I suspect he’ll sort it out soon enough.  I left him a Quickee.

Re: Site Bug

Bet the hacker finally found some weakness in the site's code. It's amazing how much time those  blokes invest in activities as unproductive as hacking a site like TNBW. It's sad they don't use that time in productive activities, but children will always be children.

Re: Site Bug

Looks like everyone got hit.

Re: Site Bug

So far I haven't seen any changes to mine.
Gosh, who'd do this?

You’re wrong.  Your profile page shows 'When the Road Darkens' by Brian Lancaster and 'Redemption, Junior Walker & me' too.

Re: Site Bug

I understand Trump is on this and the perpetrator will soon be sent back to Russia for a parade in Red Square. Just an alternate fact. Take care. Vern

Re: Site Bug

You're right, Bill. Only checked the portfolio. How do we deal with this stuff? Guess that's a question for Sol

Re: Site Bug

I got hit too. sad

Re: Site Bug

Does anyone know of a way to export all of their work from this site, including all reviews received? I'd like to have another copy held somewhere else, just in case...

Re: Site Bug

That's a very interesting  proposal.  While I have  a backup of everything I have posted here,  I don't have a backup of the comments I've received  from readers.   I'm not aware that there's a way  to actually export the comment  to your PC. Sol,    are you there?

Re: Site Bug

The only way I can see to do it is to view it from the "X-Line" tab and take screenshots.

Re: Site Bug

In Google Chrome, you can use x-line mode, then use Chrome's print function to print the whole review. I use it regularly to print reviews that require a lot of changes to my master copy written in MS Word.

That would be tedious.  If you wanted a hard copy, it would make more sense to press that “printer” icon on the review and print it (to paper - or a pdf if you don’t want to waste paper and toner).
What’s being discussed is something different - “exporting” the data, which isn’t likely and not really necessary.  Should be backed up on the site.

Re: Site Bug

Well, there's been a change on my profile page. The works not mine are now gone, but mine haven't come back.

Re: Site Bug

The problem is not from hackers but from a bug. We made some updates and it seems to have caused a few problems. We're working through them and should have them resolves shortly.

This is exactly what I do. Works well. You can even scale the size down so it doesn't take too much paper (or toner) to print.
