Topic: short story into book

I want to change a previously published short story into the first chapter of a book, but the editing page only shows me the title and genre, and not the type, so I can't alter it, which means I can't add chapters.  Do I need to do something special? or will I have to dump the short and start again?

Re: short story into book

and now the subscribe button on here has disappeared, so I won't know when anyone replies. Is this another glitch?

Re: short story into book

That happens ocasionally. Try logging out and back in to correct the subscribe button thing.

As for the other problem. My advice would be to create a 'book', then delete the original short story. If you don't want to lose reviews on the short story, you can also "unpublish' it, preserving comments, but nobody but you can see them.

Re: short story into book

Thanks Bill, I think I will have to do that. Shame, I like to read the previous reviews on a work before I start, so that I don't double up on stuff that has already been attended to, and I am sure I am not alone.

Re: short story into book

Hi, Lynne--

I don't believe you can change the designation of a piece without help from on high. (I've never tried it.) Looks like Sol is going to be busy for the time being, though. The easiest thing to do would be to submit the piece again as a first chapter, and everything will flow smoothly from there. It will cost points to resubmit.

If anyone else knows a better way, I hope they'll help you.

I was just thinking about doing the same thing with 'I Woke Up Crying.' I'll be interested to see how you do.  Good luck.  JP

Hi JP, I couldn't so, as you can see from my last post, I resubmitted it and accepted the use of more points. I can get very miserly with my points...

Hello, Lynne.

From the reviews of my ginormous short stories, you should have enough credits to re-post this a few times even. Ha ha ha!
