Topic: Question about Portfolio

I have a question about my portfolio.

When I first posted I had no idea of what I was doing, and ended up with three books of "The Eyes of the River." Well, there's only one. The other two have to be removed. If I do remove them, do I also lose the reviews you have given? I don't want to lose those.

Any idea how I can fix that problem?

Thanks so much,

Christine

Re: Question about Portfolio

I would copy you reviews and print them or save them in a word document.  Then you can delete.
Even the inline review will let copy.  First,  you click X-LINE and copy it.  I would then paste it in a WORD Document.

Re: Question about Portfolio

Thank you, Tirzah, I always fear I might lose everything.

Re: Question about Portfolio

Christine, you just need to make them inactive. They won't appear for anyone else to view, but you'll still be able to access the content & reviews.

Re: Question about Portfolio

Thank you,  Suin. That looks like an even easier option. How do I do that? Sorry, I need every tiny step pointed out to me.

Re: Question about Portfolio

Go to your portfolio and click on the book whose chapters you want to hide. That will take you to the publish wizard. Click on Publish at the top, which displays a list of all of your chapters. To the right of each chapter is a menu to select Active/Inactive. I think I have this right. It's a little different for short stories, but the Publish page is where you control visibility.

Re: Question about Portfolio

Don't feel bad. We've all messed up our posting. I don't know what it is--maybe it's the idea that we're making our work public for the first time. Strangers are going to see our stories and tell us what's wrong with them. It gets a person rattled, and we miss the cues that direct us in our posting. I've seen this happening a lot lately, and I don't know if it's deliberate.

There are two things that could be happening:
1) In the event that you've re-posted the same chapters (or story), you're paying unnecessary points. You could delete one, but I don't think you can remove (delete) a work and keep the reviews. It's best to deactivate them, as Suin says. You'll be the only one able to read them, so you can still see the reviews.

2) If your book's chapters are appearing as individual postings rather than parts of a whole, you've missed a cue. From the drop-down menu (under your name) at the top of your home screen, select your portfolio   DON'T select 'Add new content.' Select the title of your book.  A little drop-down menu will appear at the right. Select the option that says 'add chapter.' Then follow the directions.

I hope this helps. If not, someone else will have what you need.  JP

Re: Question about Portfolio

Thank you all for directing me. I think I've figured out how to do it right now. I don't think the other versions have shown up for others. I just posted chapter 5, and think and hope that it's the right chapters in the right order. Soon, I'll fiddle around more to totally get the mechanics of the site. JP, you're right, the whole experience of publishing ones writing for the first time is rattling.
It's wonderful to have support here for writing, technical questions and whatever comes up.
