Topic: Well, that was succinct.

Apparently, the editor I dealt with at Wild Rose Press was able to tell from three chapters (the first two and the last) that You Only Love Twice basically stunk. Why that opinion took 7 weeks is beyond me. Actually, it took more than 7 weeks as I had to wait 5 weeks before the initial return. So, after 3 months, I am back where I started.

I am not bitter, although it may sound that way. Instead, I've done what I did with the other rejections - I stuck the email on the wall and drove a big pushpin through its heart.

Oh well. Kindle Self Publishing is looking better and better.

Hey Bill...Something that I wanted to pass on to you. Went to a seminar recently and they said to save all rejections as they are proof that you are a writer and you can then claim deductions for materials on your income tax....Small reward I know.

Also, as I'm sure you are aware, this is a fickle business. Had a very interested agent from one of the big ones court me since March with emails, phone calls and high praise. Even gave me her cell phone number. I know she read my full manuscript bc we discussed the characters in detail, only to have our final phone call two weeks ago with her telling me that she just didn't have a space for it, but wants me to keep her posted bc she really loves my story and my writing. Moral of the story, our end result was the same.....No representation.....

Am doing a big push this month and figure that by the end of summer I will be represented or I will self pub.....Know ppl that have done both with positives and negitives on both sides, so I am leaving it to fate with the knowledge that by Fall my story will be out there.....Denise

There's a middle ground, Denise, between being agented and self-publishing. (And, BTW, having an agent doesn't ensure you'll get published.) That is small- to medium-sized publishers who don't require an author to have an agent before reviewing a manuscript. In fact, these publishers would prefer you not have an agent to get between you and them and muddy the waters. Anyway, it's another option.
