Topic: Are we stagnating?

I just went through my "connections" and eliminated half of them--they've dropped out of the writing pool and I haven't heard from them in over a year. Is this normal?
I've changed some of my groups two or three times over the past two years, but I haven't found any forum that's hosting ongoing relevant conversations. It's too bad we seem to be losing touch with each other.

I recently cleared out my connections, too. .Like JP, many haven't been active for a long time.  I'll try my best to keep reading/reviewing current connections' work to keep these viable.

Re: Are we stagnating?

I have noticed that also, JP. Although I haven't purged my connections, I find that my email inbox contains mostly the usual suspects. I try to get a review in between editing sessions.

Re: Are we stagnating?

When I returned from a five-year hiatus, I noticed a lot of my connections were stagnant, or no longer on the site.  I felt terribly guilty. lol.  But the ones that are left are good professional-level reviewers and writers.  So we may have lost quantity, but have gained in quality.

Re: Are we stagnating?

People tend to come and go based on the time they can dedicate to their writing as well as what stage they are in - writing, editing, publishing, promoting, etc. I'd love to find a way to keep members engaged through all of the steps of the process.

Re: Are we stagnating?

Many writers have active blogs. Would there be a way to link these blogs to TNBW and have the conversations "cloned" here and on the individual blog sites? That might generate both engaging conversations and more site traffic via "cross-pollination." Not even sure if this is logistically possible, but just brainstorming!

Re: Are we stagnating?

I have been guilty of not paying attention to this site unless I've written something. I can only promise to try to do better. smile

Re: Are we stagnating?

I'M STILL ALIVE!
I'm constantly on tNBW, but always editing, writing and trying to find the time to give insightful reviews. I'd love to turn the moderation of three groups I founded (with great graphics!) to someone who can get the ball rolling.

They are: SPY WITH US, ACTION & ADVENTURE, HORROR AND THE MACABRE. I ALSO FOUNDED LITERARY FICTION, WHICH CHARLES MODERATES, HOWEVER I DON'T SEE THAT GROUP SIZZLING.

I agree with Marilyn, the old site forum really set the tone... positive and negative, but mostly very positive.

Re: Are we stagnating?

I noticed too. I'm here, but not as active as I once was. HEY! We all want to be published. Just know that once you get out there, then you have to start the marketing, and it is time consuming. I have so many people marked to read, but I just don't seem to have the time to do anyone justice. Sorry if you feel neglected. I'm trying.

Same here! Eventually I'll settle into a new rhythm and catch up with everyone!
