Topic: In line review issue.

I used the in-line review for the first time. Pretty good, I like it. But...about half way through I saved my review to have dinner, cam back...could not open it. click click bloody click click, clickity click click. Hee haw. Had to start again.
So does anyone know why? Sarcastic responses welcome.

Re: In line review issue.

Did you look in the place where you find IL review replies?

If you actually "saved" it, then it should show as a "draft" under your in-line reviews posted. If you instead accidentally hit "submit" then it should be there as a normal in-line review would. However, if you mistakenly closed it out without actually hitting either "save" or "submit" then it would disappear as you may have discovered. But the silver lining is that you get to do it all over again as a more experienced reviewer. Your target audience will thank you. Take care. Vern

Re: In line review issue.

Actually, everything except the closing comment auto saves so it is there. To find it, go to reviews and then inline posted. It's not so intuitive finding a draft so e need to upgrade that at some point.

Re: In line review issue.

Oddly enough, this is one place where I think you're all right.  Yes, another top-level category might make sense, or just highlighting the reply link when there's a draft in there, but I think the effort could be better applied to other issues.

IMO and Your Mileage May Vary, to be sure.

Re: In line review issue.

This is likely a PICNIC problem. I'll do this again and check.  Thanks

If everything is supposed to auto save even without hitting "save" or "submit" then there is a glitch somewhere because I've had them disappear when cut off for one reason or another, never to be seen again despite searching all those reviews more than once. No, I can't say where or when because I simply figured it was lost and moved on. Take care. Vern

Re: In line review issue.

Being distracted during a review is commonplace for me. The system does, indeed, auto save. The bigger problem was that it would not permit access to that auto saved file.

So, I began the review again. Distracted. Okay, I began the review a third time, and this time finished it! I posted the IL review, received a reply, and all is well.

Then, as if the Gods of the TNBW were laughing, the drafts are now on my list, and fully accessible, to do everything but delete the entire thing. Since "no points will be issued, as you have already reviewed this chapter", and the fact that I've already sent my review and received a reply from the author, HOW do I get the draft off of my IL review list?

Yes, I'm OCD and Hate seeing red text, as if I've done something wrong that needs correcting.

In conclusion...
How do I delete an IL "Draft" Review?

Re: In line review issue.

Not giving points is definitely a bug.  The logic shoulld follow from an invariant: points from the first review (completed, that qualifies for points).  Incomplete reviews should not claim the point 'token' unless it can be taken by the next review started.

Begin with the invariants.  From the invariants, develop explicit policies that will maintain the invariants.  Express the policies as explicit rules on the operations supported.  Implement the rules as actions in the appropriate places.

Re: In line review issue.

Good Morning njc!

While I appreciate your opinion on the methodology of the site's procedures, I still don't know how to delete an IL draft. The points are not the issue for me. At least, not in this case.

I just want the draft off of my list.

Re: In line review issue.

JL Mo, have you tried submitting the erroneous review? Since we can do multiple reviews for any piece of work, it should disappear from your list when you submit. You can add a note at the top of the review telling the author to ignore it - that you're trying to clear a bug.

OCD 2.

Re: In line review issue.

Ha! Thanks, Norm. Yes, I did that to another author a little while ago. I'd started a review in January, then lost it, then found it again in August, and submitted it to get it off of my list. I was hoping there would be a way to delete it. The author in question would just razz me about it, as we exchange reviews with a glibness built in, so this would really provide ammo. big_smile

Thanks for the suggestion. My OCD self will most likely end up doing just that.

Re: In line review issue.

I've also got one those damn drafts that won't go away. After searching every avenue known to man for a way to destroy the stupid thing, I just ignored it. No, it still didn't go away, but I no longer acknowledge its existence; that's my pay back, lol. And hey, if you find out how to delete the culprit, let me know. Take care. Vern

Thanks, Vern. It's  comfort to know I'm not the only one.
