As an avid reader of thrillers, one thing always jumped out at me. While protagonists had their own troubles and flaws, it seemed the antagonists were always the ones with mental health issues. This is understandable given the types of crimes committed. Nonetheless, I found myself sympathizing and wondered if, at some level, the main character could battle serious mental health, be understood and viewed as a hero both relatable and likeable. This sympathy was driven by my dislike of stigmas in the real world today and has inspired my work
