I do boring computer stuff for a living, like data science and cybersecurity.  I assure you that I am a standard-issue human, and as such, my hobbies include standard human things.  In addition to myself and my eternally patient wife, there are two genetic half-clones that are yet in the larval stage roaming my home.

Writing is the thing that I do instead of sleeping.  One of those things, of course, is necessary for survival.  (I reiterate: I am a standard-issue human and not non-human in any respect that is measurable by instruments that have been devised by humans in their history.  I mean our history.)

I read Neuromancer when I was probably too young to read such things, and it changed my concept of what a story could be.  From there, I eventually moved into Jorge Luis Borges, Umberto Eco, Jose Saramago, Salman Rushdie, Italo Calvino, Thomas Pynchon, Vladimir Nabokov, Stanislaw Lem, Haruki Murakami, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Graham Greene, and Kobo Abe.
