I'm a former journalist, lived and worked in London, now I work with teens-at-risk and people with special needs on my equestrian property helping them with horses partnering with educators and a mental health professional. I have been passionate about reading, writing and animals as long as I can remember. Apart from my work as a journalist, I've also had poetry, memoir and short fiction pubished in small journals. I currently am at work on three novel manscripts in varying stages of completion. What I write tends to be YA, but when I started an adult novel -- I realized that all my work seems to center on themes of displacement, change, and protagonists seeking their place in the world. All are in a state of being uprooted or upended for one reason or another. I was once again writing about someone whose world was being altered by circumstances outside her control. This also happens to be the story of my own life until 21 -- moving every two or three years, changing schools, and living within a somewhat emotionally fragmented family that barely hung together, made me learn very young that I had to know who I was, what I wanted, and learn how to find my balance, know what centered me, what grounded me and what I could rely upon. Those things were books, writing -- and animals.
