Profile Information

Sandra Savage is a writer, poet, graphic designer, public speaker, culinarian, and author of "The Journey, Uneven.”

After growing up in the Midwest, Sandra moved to northern California. In packing up for the 2,000-mile journey, she discovered a box of old letters her father had written while serving in the US Navy. The box of unread letters got crammed onto a U-Haul trailer, then in her rental home, shoved away on top a makeshift bookshelf until the earthquake of October 1989. Over the following three days, his letters (thrown all across the living room floor), were finally, slowly and thoroughly, read.

While working in high-tech, and (after attending the California Culinary Academy/Le Cordon Bleu) becoming an executive chef and restaurant owner, Sandra attended in-depth writing courses at Stanford University, Ohlone College, and lead women’s writing workshops. Through it all, bits and pieces of her father’s letters kept creeping into her writing.

Finally, after a much-anticipated trip through the back roads of Cumberland, Wisconsin, she got serious and knuckled down to write “The Journey, Uneven.”

You can get insights on the journey she took that inspired her novel, download beautiful, hand-designed postcards, and explore many delicious recipes at www.TBD.com. You can also subscribe to her blog and as a special gift, receive a copy of “Mom’s Favorite Recipes,” a 105-page cookbook.

Sandra (under different pen names) has had published over 112 short stories, inspirational prose, three cookbooks, “A Remarkable Journey, a memoir,” and numerous technical manuals and articles. She lives in Fremont, California with her husband, and is currently working on two more contemporary, historical novels. You can contact Sandra by email at sandra@savage-books.com.
