I'm a 24 yr old divorced, single mom who will finally graduate with her BA degree in May (thank God). I started reading books from the adult vs. juvenile section at twelve or thirteen and by the time I was fifteen I read Stephen King's The Stand in a week. Books became a passion of mine, and because of that they really helped me through school. When I turned 22, I finally decided to work on writing those books that I had always wanted to. I know 22 seems young to be using the words "finally" but I graduated high school at 17, was married at 18, a mother at 19, back to school at 20 and divorced by 21. I finally got tired of doing what everyone else thought I should do. I love to write, as I am sure that all of the other writers on this site do. I write because its therapeutic, for the writer and the reader. I write because we both need to get away from reality or have a good laugh at it. I write because I feel the drive, just as I did when I would browse the isles of our small library at walk to the checkout desk with twelve books in my arms. I knew the librarians all by name, and after coming to the library once a week for the first dozen years of my life, they knew me and were never overly surprised at my mountain of books. They'd just put them in a grocery bag (or two) and send me on my way. I am also a glass artist, I make glass lampwork beads on a small torch in my studio at home, and sell my beads on eBay.
