Profile Information

I am Perry J Gibson Sr.  I was born June 19, 1938 in The State of Louisiana in The United States Of America.

I was born on June 19, 1938, in the East Swamp about six miles south east of Pioneer, Louisiana.

Life in those days was simple but filled with hard work. My parents, sharecroppers at the time, raised me and my siblings with a deep sense of purpose and integrity. Earl Gibson, my father, was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He had a wisdom that came from years of working the land, and though he didn’t attend church regularly, his belief in God was unshakable.

Birtha M Gibson my mother, was a devoted Christian woman who carried her faith into every aspect of her life. She ensured that I and my siblings grew up with a strong foundation in the church. I remember those Sunday mornings fondly, my mother walking with me to MT Zion Missionary Church, where we would sit together, singing hymns and listening to the old country preacher’s voice echo through the building.

It was there, as a young boy, that i first discovered my love for singing. My voice, soft and melodic, caught the attention of the congregation, and soon I found himself not only attending church but actively participating, becoming a Sunday school teacher by the time I was a teenager.

I was a bright student, excelling in all of my subjects, and by the time I finished high school, I  graduated at the top of my class. My academic achievements earned me a scholarship to Southern University, where I studied vocational agriculture and general education subjects.

After attending Southern University for two years I decided that I was no longer interested in being an agriculture teacher and I dropped out of college in December 1958 and migrated to Chicago Illinois..

At my first job I met the young woman whom I would come to call "My Sweet Love" and "Honey." We married December 1959 and began our journey together, a union that would last over six decades. Pearl was more than just my partner—she was my confidante, my advisor, and the anchor that kept me grounded through the highs and lows of life. Together, we raised children, shared dreams, and built a life that was rooted in love and faith.

My work experience spanned  several fields, from agriculture to business, but my true passion had always been learning and teaching. Over the years, I have developed a desire to share my life’s lessons, especially the wisdom I gained from my parents and my experiences. This desire grew into a calling to write, a way to leave a legacy not just for my family, but for the world. I often thought of the words my father spoke to me over twenty five years ago: “You oughta write a book.”

Those words lingered in my mind, but life had a way of filling my days with other responsibilities. It wasn’t until I  reached over eighty years of age that I truly embraced the calling to become a writer. I knew I had so much to share—stories of my upbringing, the lessons my parents had taught me, and above all, my deep love for God. I decided to title my first book, "Reasons Why I Love GOD!", a reflection of the gratitude I felt for all the ways God had blessed me throughout my life.

I am still in process of writing that book.
