Having discovered that beneath the thin veneer of sanity he presents to the public he is actually completely insane and out of control, your humble servant has given up trying to be ordinary and now lives as a permanent itinerant, traveling around the US 48 states in a small motor home with his two dogs. He imagines himself to be like John Steinbeck in this regard -- at least as he described himself in his last book, "Travels With Charley". He also imagines that others consider him to be insufferably egotistical by even thinking of this comparison. But his dogs worship him completely, and this, together with the lack of a wife to disabuse him of his bizarre notions, allows him to maintain grandiose ideas of this sort.
