Paul Long Profile

Hi, my name is Paul Long.

I live in Derry City, Nr.Ireland.

I’m a retired nurse, married to my beautiful for 16 years and father of three.

I have been interested in aliens, conspiracy theories, science fiction and fantasy for as long as I can remember.

As a boy, reading books like JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings or Arthur C. Clarke’s 2001 A Space Odyssey had an immense impact on me. Alien life, other worlds, mystical creatures! it all seemed possible. But that was the magic! being able to convey one person’s imagination to another. Having that person see into your mind’s eye! It was something that I had always wanted to do, but never had the courage or fortitude to try.

As life moved on, I left foolish notions of becoming an author behind and concentrated on work, home and family. It seemed though that life works in mysterious ways. After 20 years of Nursing, I recently had to retire for health reasons. One evening as I sat watching TV with my oldest son Conaill, I let it slip that I had been thinking of taking up writing. He got so excited! We sat and talked about what I would write about. Would it be a space novel? something with monsters? Would it be set in the past, present or future? The questions were endless and so was his enthusiasm!

So, after much thought, I am going to take the plunge.
