Profile Information

College Graduate with degree in medical science as well as considerable studies (equivalent to Associate's Degree) in mathematics, English, history (world and US) and philosophy. Worked as a physician assistant for almost thirteen years; however, recently retired and now embarking upon my career as a published freelance writer. Have written two books: "Medical Office Projects," published by Thomson Learning Company in Ohio and a series of manuals designed to assist those who wish to become certified pharmacy technicians. While employed as a physician assistant, I have written numerous articles for some of the leading journals for the physician assistant; but my real goal is to continue writing for the lay-public, particularly due to the increasing levels of confusion that is commonplace in the medical arena today. Once entertained with an opportunity to write a book about medicine for the lay-public, I have found the task to be extremely overwhelming, unable (as of yet) to conceptualize in one specific area of medicine. While I worked as a physician assistant in a lone health care environment, where I was able to diagnose and treat my own patients, I was instrumental in developing the clinic and increasing the patient load from 400 patients to more than 3000 in less than two years. Having done that and having appreciated the real need for medicine to be easily understood by anyone, I feel compelled to bring this topic to the readers of this web site for clues, ideas and suggestions. Understanding that the media are actually doing more harm than good with all of the information that is being fed to people on television, I see this as a real potential, but also an awesome task. It will, however, be as rewarding as well. I have and will continue to seek the attention of a well qualified writer to assist me in an endeavor to develop a book that will address all of the major issues of medicine in an effort to empower the public with knowledge about medicine, providing the bare bones of the realm of medical care; by doing this, I am confident that such an endeavor will have its rewards, especially for those who simply know very little about medicine, how medications, for example, work, and how the medical jargon can be simplified.
