Profile Information

Lynda Drews was born and raised in Wisconsin and began running in the sixties - before women’s running shoes were even available. She was the first woman computer science graduate from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse and hired by IBM. In Lynda’s last ten years of her thirty-year career, she was the IBM global marketing executive for the retail industry responsible for solution collateral development, website content, campaigns (mail and e-mail), global advertisement, webcasts, and trade shows. As a sought after speaker, Lynda was featured at numerous client events in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Australia, Japan, and China. Even though this is Lynda Drews’s first book, she has inside knowledge about the victim, the accused, and the witnesses. One of the book’s themes is the impact her best friend’s mysterious death has on Green Bay’s close-knit running community. Lynda and her husband, Jim, a retired teacher and guidance counselor, helped launch the local running movement. Green Bay now hosts the nation’s sixth largest 10K, attracting 12,000 participants. This race was established in 1977 by Bellin Hospital and the author’s family continues to host the post-party. Lynda’s husband was an accomplished runner and qualified for the 1982 Olympic Trials. In the Midwest, the Drews name remains associated with running since the largest Wisconsin cross country invitational was named in his honor. Since Lynda has completed eight marathons herself, and is still an avid runner, she writes from personal experience. Along with a golden retriever named Bailey, Lynda and her husband have two sons. After they reached sixth grade, the author let them pick a yearly one-on-one trip with just their mom. One son chose exotic places like Cancun, Bahamas, Costa Rica, skiing in Oregon, while the other went to the bathroom sized PEZ Museum in San Francisco, and to eight different locales where the Dave Mathews Band played. Lynda may be the oldest person in the world that’s been to fifteen DMB concerts. Last spring Lynda was asked to give the commencement speech at her college alma mater. One of the lessons she shared with the graduates was: "To journal your life. Writing something every day sharpens your attention to everything around you." When Lynda made her decision to retire from IBM, she returned to an earlier passion. In college she’d excelled in creative writing. TRUE CRIME IN TITETOWN USA - TRIAL RUN is that outcome.
