For twenty-seven years I worked in Investment Banking as a financial consultant with Fidelity Investments. Last year my sweet wife passed away after battling stage-four breast cancer for three years. She was an exceptional woman who did all the heavy lifting and nurtured my five children to their teen years with homeschooling and love.
I don't have her strength or patience so my children are in a charter school with some home-study elements. I retired the beginning of this year in an attempt to fill her mighty shoes and finish raising my children. My youngest was eleven when my wife passed in April 2015 shortly after I joined this site. I just recently returned to writing after a ten-month hiatus.
Even though I spent my entire career in finance and investments, I received my degree in English with a creative writing emphasis. I love to write but never had the chance. As my wife's health declined she spent much time in bed and I spent much time writing to keep my mind busy which resulted in two books. The first yet unfinished is the account of my family's struggles through my wife's disease, the second posted here is For The Taking. It is completed but I am editing and tightening before I post each chapter and am enjoying incredibly helpful insight from the members of this website. (The picture on the cover is my oldest daughter. Given the subject matter she was none too happy to be thought of as Charlie, but I think they're both awesome girls, even if one's fiction. I guess she's okay with it now... I reminded her it's just a book.)
