I'm a retired state college English instructor: basic composition, grammar, and creative writing. I've been working on a few novels for a few decades and finally have more time to devote to writing. My interest is commercial fiction, and my preferred genre is the road trip or journey novel that focuses on the transformation of the protagonist.  In my reviews, I try to be tactful and kind, but I don't provide false flattery, which does the writer no good at all.

I joined this site because while I can easily see the strengths and weaknesses in other writers' work, I don't trust myself to accurately evaluate my own writing. After all, when we look in a mirror, we see ourselves much differently than others see us, like the kitten who looks into the mirror and sees a lion.
