Profile Information

I will use this space to clarify the favorite book thing. The book that made me want to take writing seriously was The Notes From Underground. I read it at the time that I decided to change my major to philosophy. The book that I admire partly because its style is so different from my own is White Teeth. It’s a testament to the benefit of having a wife that loves to read. The book that amuses me because it reminds me of high school and college is The Name of the Rose. I attended St. Augustine High School and Xavier University in New Orleans respectively. The book that captures, albeit in a tragically beautiful way, the pace of New Orleans is The Awakening. Watership Down is simply a very good book. The book whose characters’ personalities were the closest to my friends growing up was Linden Hills, and every now and then I read Faust (Walter Kaufman’s translation) just to admire what writers were able to get away with before literature became an institution.
