helas Profile

I love Raymond Carver, Henry Miller, Rick Moody, the Buddha, Tarantino, Wes Anderson, Gillian Anderson, Dan Clowes, Morphine, Fugazi, and Tortoise, to name but a few, literary, cinematic, and musical. I play guitar in an indierock-type band, write short stories, and paint and draw little pictures. I like to get beneath the surface of art and gaze at the structures. I like irony as a device but not as a means to its own end. Good artifice always seems surprising but also totally inevitable. Ray Carver, Abraham Lincoln, and Joe Strummer are among those I'd like to imagine as my spiritual fathers, and I love peanut butter and coffee (but not necessarily in that order, or even at the same time).
