Profile Information

Sometimes I think the hardest thing to write is a bio. What are the most interesting things about me? A little known fact is that I would love to be on The Next Food Network Star. I even tried once, but not classically trained as a chef, I suppose they took a pass. I love to cook almost as much as I love to write. For ten years I worked at an emergency shelter for homeless women and children and learned quite a bit about a different sort of life. This experience paved the pathway toward my passion to help people become educated. I believe education is the key almost everything. I have a doctorate in metaphysics, a master's degree in community counseling and a bachelor's degree in English literature. The three degrees are more related than one would think. They all help understand the human condition, which is what writing is all about. I have a grown son who I watch make mistakes that I could help him avoid. But he's stubborn, like me. I also have three grown step children. The blended family has been an experience that I write about. My husband is blind and as a result, we have a guide dog. Perkins is a 95-pound German Shepherd. His favorite toy is our 27-pound Schnoodle, Eldri. Eldri is named for one of my favorite book characters and he is every bit as whimsical as that character is. I love to write and am trying to wade my way through all the technology that can make it possible to be The Next Big Writer. I have had some short pieces published. I was runner up in a personal essay contest. At one point in my career, as a volunteer, I was a producer for a radio show that allowed women to read their writing to the public. I also write quite a few reviews for audio books. I love to write and I love to read what others have written. It's part of what nurtures me.
