Butch Profile

I am 59 years old. I look into the mirror and discover that I have become my father. I used my childhood knickname, Butch, to introduce myself because I relate more emotionally to that cute kid than I do the face in the mirror. Although that man has a good life now, it wasn't always. Butch had to survive abuse, an unhappy childhood, a turbulent youth, and a few careers to reach this happy life. Still, I look in the mirror and wonder, "How did I get here?" I believe there is a story in that life and feel compelled to put pen to paper. I've been getting the urge to write all the time. Not just about the past, but every new experience. I hear a good story on the train and I want to write it down, define the characters and expand the story. I'd like to explore writing styles, maybe perfect my own. I'm very interested in stream of consciousness and would like to push it toward what I like to call "direct streatm of consciousness" where the thoughts and events in the story are experienced by the reader as if it were happening to them. I believe I have come to the right place to explore my writing potential. A place full of bold adventurers with whom I can risk all and develop my talents. I must write.
