I'm like an onion. I have many layers. I served 30 years as an ordained minister in local churches throughout Texas. I am currently an elementary school counselor where I focus on social skills, positive character and anti bullying. Recently I have turned my eye on publishing works in a variety of genres. My writings, from educational to zombie apocalypse reflect my core values and is part of my goal to teach values through media.
As a School Counselor I created a social system called The Usual Suspects to teach about bullying and other bothersome behaviors. I call these behaviors Negative Social Interactions. In the process I created TALK-WALK-TELL as a strategy to handle conflicts. These are included in my upcoming new book, Amazing Facts and Crazy Quizzes (about bullying and the Usual Suspects.)
My Son Jon, is my illustrator and is on Deviant Art as drawordye. He has illustrated our published works, The World's Strongest Human (Both editions) and Beneath the Reading Tree. We worked together with a 3rd grade student of mine, JeAnua Evans, and Jon donated art work for her eBook, Lilly's New School.
Currently we are finishing up on two projects:
Tales from Death Valley which is a zombie-like apocalypse that is contained mostly to the Central Valley of California. It is a collection of novelettes, short stories and flash fiction with cross over characters and related events. This work will be for teen + readers. it is about the adventure and suspense-not the gore.
The second work is for ages 10+ and is called The Hall which is based on the scenario of Tales from Death Valley. In book form it includes a do-it-yourself craft, a board/card game and detailed stories about the characters of the game who enter "The Hall."
