Deep cut in the arm, close to the shoulder, but could be anywhere as long as it's on the arm, I'm not too fussed over the exact location. Weapon: sword. Most of the blow was blocked, but still had enough to make a deep incision. How long would it bleed without intervention? And would it be fatal, just reducing ability to walk/talk/stand up kind of thing, or business as usual given an adrenalin rush. And then a-okay once it's bandaged.

It can be as you deadly as you want it to be, depending on where the cut is. If you bag the brachial artery, the wound will bleed them out and the arm will rot off because that is the only pipe feeding the arm. (It branches off at the elbow)

If you hack the biceps or triceps, there is a lot of bleeding. You get to decide how much blood is lost. Make sure that arm is impaired though. They won't be able to flex elbow/shoulder (biceps) or extend elbow/shoulder (triceps). In a big laceration, this would be a permenant injury/disability.

I once read a novel where this guy imprisoned his brother and took his place. The rest of the world assumed that his brother was dead, but he kept him locked up for YEARS, just in case. The entire first book has tidbits of the brother's life in a solitary prison and it even continues halfway into the second book with him escaping the first prison cell only to find himself in a secondary cell, etc. Then the main guy loses his powers (which he shares with his brother) and readers are led to believe that the brother in prison is the only hope left. So, of course, then comes the scene of letting the brother out of prison. It's all kinds of dramatic and going exactly how the reader expects, then BAM! Guy gets pissed off and shoots his brother so now he's actually dead like the rest of the world believes.

I stared at the page in shock for a good 10 minutes... Needless to say, this is now one of my favorite authors.
