Love the article on the VA cat! My hubby was going through a hard time a few years ago so I found us a little kitten. Her name is Lily. Peace Lily. And I prayed she would bring him peace, which she has!!!

Thank you, JL. I had hoped to write about this in the contest but didn't get it done in time. So, I just wanted to write this little piece. I am humbled by her spirit.

I agree it is a dilemma because, on the one hand, you want to reach out and share the love of Christ to the world so you can't make everything churchy all the time. But, on the other hand, you don't want to give a bad witness. The line I've drawn in the sand is that I don't use the Lord's name in vain. And, then I think you just have to use common sense and consider the subject matter/story of your book and the desired readers.

Speaking of the strongest start competition, I've never seen any of the results. Where are results from various contests posted?

Good info to know. Thanks for sharing!

This sounds great! How can I get signed up for it?

Can I write this without offending anyone?
My sister lost her only son. He was 26. Yet, she gets up each day and try's to go on with her life. She has been a brittle diabetic for almost 50 years. They told her as a young child she likely wouldn't live past her twenties. Her humble house burned a few weeks ago. She is living in a very old house without running water until they can get something else in place. She went over to check on her mother-in-law the other day. She found her dead sitting on her couch. Her son was murdered. She told me she has no hope any more. She told me she went to her doctor the other day and all she could do was cry. The doctor asked her why she was crying...she said, "I miss my son...."
Getting up every day. Going about the basics of life. Wondering why you are still here. Trusting Jesus...that's brave.

Wow! That's pretty interesting reading.

Great, thank you for the information.

Yeah, I don't understand the change to one space after a period instead of two. Where did that come from? Lol

Hello Everyone -
I go by "Radley", one of my favorite characters in To Kill A Mockingbird, which is probably my all-time favorite book. I think it is such a cool name. smile I like that book because it portrays the simple life of living in a small town and the true innocence of children. And, I like Lee's low-key writing style.
My second favorite book is about anything written by John Grisham. Again, he usually write about life in a small town or rural area and has sort of a laid-back writing style. People have described my writing as being sort of laid back and folksy, which I guess it is! Lol
Like Huey, I liked Harry Potter. My son and I read these books together. I like a little of the scary or thriller genres - like the Bram Stoker books, the Shining by King, and The Hound of the Baskervilles. I like the gothic romances by the Bronte sisters, and I like memoirs. I'm currently reading a book by Santana and his life as a musician. It's really enlightening.
I'm a lawyer by trade so I write a lot in practice and have even been a professional editor for a legal journal, but I really enjoy reading a good non-law related book and I enjoy writing a lot. So, I'm looking forward to being part of this group and offering what I can but also ready to learn a lot along the way. One caveat...my eyesight is getting horrible and I miss typos so much anymore. Plus, I do most of my work now with one finger on my phone so I get many more typos than I ever did on a keyboard. So, please forgive me in advance if I type "if" instead of "of"and similar things! smile I probably didn't see it! But I will try very hard to catch these things. Thank you, Radley

A few questions as I am new to this type of group and to the changes to tnbw site. So, first, how do we know when things are getting started? Or when it is our time to do a review, etc. Will we get an email alert or anything? Are we supposed to check the site and/or this group for follow up? How does it work logistically? I tend to like the idea of a set day each week that we know a new piece is coming in....
Second, I understand that we can post any type of writing but is there an expected limited on length or is it wide open? Are we thinking of people submitting a chapter, chapters, or a whole book?
Thanks, Rad

The Case Against the Em Dash - hilarious!

Great idea for a group.

No! Please don't close this group!! I've been wanting a place to work on my children's books. I've been a member for a couple of years or so but am just now checking out this new structure, so please give me a little time and I will be happy to post and seek reviews and offer my reviews of others work. I'm not sure how to post on this new site so I need to figure it out. smile but I'm very excited about this group you have formed.
