Funny. So far I haven't had any one-star reviews, just a two-star review from someone who didn't even finish the book. Really? Why bother? The best part about this--listening to Patrick's fantastic voice--Five-stars and palpitations.

Gang, I apologize for my absence lately. Since I started my publishing company, time is limited. I have 4 projects I'm working on with Dragon Breath Press (2 members from here) and 3 more in the wings (another member from here.) Since my company is myself and my cover man, at this time, needless to say I'm busy. I will return to reviewing, and I hate being so far behind.

If it works as well for you as it did for me, this will be your go-to group. Stick around.

Symbology--Never heard this word until I watched The Boondock Saints. It is the study of symbols. Any word ending in -ology is the study of something. Symbolism is another animal. Sorry. I just had to get this off my chest as a former English teacher. I'll take a look at your story. I've also begun a fantasy/sci-fi set in a dystopian world. Not quite a fairy-tale, but still a fun piece to read. It's on here in part--Ain't No Mountain.

Well, it happened and I didn't even know. Obviously, Amazon didn't consider this worth notifying me.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too slow, August 1, 2016
By Celina
This review is from: Lucky Thirteen (The Raiford Chronicles Book 1) (Kindle Edition)
Never finished it - too slow for my taste

If a person doesn't finish a book, why bother to leave a review?

All the Raiford Chronicles are marketed as Romantic-Suspense.

Multiple murders? Exploration of the strange bond between twins? A nutcase trying to summon a demon through ritual sacrifice? Betrayal? Fist fights? Romance on two fronts? A deep abiding faith? Slow?

Romance--No, this novel is NOT erotica, so if that's what a person wants in romance, don't look here. You will not find bed-hopping, crude sexual language, bondage, torture, etc.  Suspense--isn't supposed to rush by in a blur; that's why it's called SUSPENSE..

Take the challenge--Read it for yourself!

5.0 out of 5 starsJanet is full of surprises!
ByDot Dayon May 10, 2017
Format: Kindle Edition
I vacillated between four and five stars and decided on five because is is a well-written, suspenseful book with a realistic plot. The characters are we'll-drawn and realistic, even to the corruption found in small town politics. it is deserving of five stars for those reasons. However, it is written for a younger audience and I am an oder audience of one. i prefer less physical intimacy and slower strolls in the books I typically read. Young adults will love this book as well as Taylor-Perry's other Raiford Chronicles (those characters are a little older and more mature-seemingly).

Big congratulations, Janet! I agree with Norm about the background photo. But the rest of the page is great.

The site looks very clean. I especially like the written font on a white background. I would consider changing the background photo, though. I thought it was a wooden log until I looked at it several times. Perhaps something that looks more obviously like a stack of books or pages (perhaps with "Once Upon a Time ..." written on one of them).

Actually, when my logo gets done, that will be the background. This was the closest stock pic they had & it had an ugly hand looking like the fingers were walking up the steps of a book .

I've had them too. I've even had some that literally copied and pasted a portion of a chapter just to get 50 words.

As y'all know, I've started my own publishing company. I'm now developing a website for it--It's far from done. But you can get a first look here:
http://dragonbreathpress.com/

I'm still having my logo designed, so there will be big changes coming. But I have my domain--and my first 3 clients.

Sorry I can't commit to this since I'm in the middle of editing 3 novels as an official editor & $$$$.

I've noticed that NO programmed grammar feature is perfect. They are only as good as the programmer. I know nothing about computer programming, but I do know English grammar. Maybe I should contact Mircrosoft and make some $$$$$ fixing their (not they're) issues for the programmers to add. I'm POSITIVE they'd jump on that offer!!! Now, y'all know why I also write fiction--I have a vivid imagination.

I just ignore the stuff that is nonsense. I just found it amusing b/c of their, there, they're. Word frequently makes ridiculous suggestions. I have Word 2016, and I think it's gotten progressively worse since my 93 version.

I really question the mental capabilities of those who program Word's grammar. In the following sentence, THEIR is highlighted, and the suggestion is THEY'RE.

Tor nodded, and they slid down the dome, quickening their pace the second their feet touch the flat of the vale.

This, folks, is why you need a REAL editor. Inbox me if you need my help.
