Topic: Can't edit

Hi AGAIN,

I'm trying to edit but I'm getting really frustrated.

It keeps saying  CMD+ CntrL + V  to paste.
I googled and the CMD is the WINDOWS start button.  But I can't get it work.

Basically I have to hand type all corrections manually.
I also can't copy.

WHat is this CMD (Command) kEY?  It is driving me crazy.  I tried ALT but that didn't work.

I USE A PC.

Re: Can't edit

Can't help. Call Sol! I haven't experienced this, so I'd be as lost as you.

Re: Can't edit

It use to be CTRL C to copy and Ctrl V to paste.

Now it's asking for a CMD key which is normally a Mac Thing.  I cannot get the copy or paste to work.  Grrr.

Re: Can't edit

What are you using for a browser?

Re: Can't edit

No, I meant your browser - do you use Windows Explorer, Firefox, Opera, or what?  I'm not familiar with Windows 7.1. Did you mean Windows 8.1?  The operating system doesn't really matter, but the browser does.  It sounds to me like this site thinks you are a Linux or Mac system or your browser, for some reason, is reporting to the site that you are. Try cleaning out your cookies for this site. You will have to re-enter your username and password, but maybe the correct CTRL-C and CTRL-V shortcuts will come back.

EDIT: You might also check to see if you can cut and paste OUTSIDE your browser (like open a test text file and enter, cut, paste, some keystrokes).  THis will verify that you CAN use those shortcuts, but the site isn't letting you use them.

Re: Can't edit

Oh...Firefox normally but I tried Chrome too.
I can post anywhere but TNBW.

I use to be able to edit on here but it now says  CMD +CnTRL + C to copy.  It use to be  Ctrl + C.   It used to work.  It does not now.

The notes changes as did my ability to edit.

I stayed with 7.1 as I hated the 8.0 upgrade.

Re: Can't edit

Ah. That narrows it down considerably. Try the cookie-clearing operation and see if that helps.

Re: Can't edit

I clean my computer on a daily basis due to large files I run.
It's the CMD key function that is the problem.  I don't have a CMD key as that is a MAC function.

Re: Can't edit

Cleaning your computer and cleaning your cookies are an entirely different thing.

Go to Firefox.

Select Tools -> options
On the Privacy tab, there is a button marked "Show Cookies".  CLick that
In the panel that opens up, there at the top is a "Search" field. Enter "thenext" (without the quotes).
what will show up are just the cookies related to this site.
select ONE cookie and click the "Remove Cookie" button.  DO NOT CLICK THE "REMOVE ALL COOKIES" BUTTON.
When all the cookies for this site are removed, close (shut down) your browser (Firefox) and restart it.  Come to this site and see if your problem has gone away.

Re: Can't edit

I am having the same problem, Tirz. I use Firefox and have Windows 8.1. I think it's a bug. Last night it worked fine. sad
Okay, I worked on it a little and in the editing tool box is a function for pasting from word. It looks like a clipboard with a piece of paper on it. I used that and pasting worked. smile

Re: Can't edit

When I say clean...I scrub my history, files and defrag...clean.

Re: Can't edit

Sorry. History, files, and defrag are good things to do (although defragging is really unnecessary from Windows 7 upward). It does nothing towards removing faulty or badly formed cookies.  They have to be removed one at a time unless you have Firefox set to remove all cookies when it closes.  THis is different than having it clear history.

Looks like Dags has your solution. I use the "paste from Word" function all the time.

SOLN--I still can't edit.

What is going on with the copy instructions?  CMD key?
