It's yours.  I'll also waiver the small fee I would ask normally.  Northern England has a lot going for it, orbiting hell isn't one of those things, and Johnny would anyways hit someone straight to hell.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Will review Ch12 this weekend, if I can type ....  smile  Otherwise, had a quick look at Ch11 - love the ending!  You've nailed that one too!  wink

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

In Fahrenheit, it is officially one degree above zero. You walk outside and your lungs ache. Think of breathing ice cubes. Snow so cold it crunches. Without a hat, your ears hurt in about 30 seconds and go numb in just a few minutes. Even with a good jacket, your body temp goes down if you leave your pockets zipped.

In other words, colder than a witches t*t in a brass bra.

I wanna be in the Caribbean

Mantle of Magic is supposed to refer to Anver wearing a 'mantle' and all that implies.  In hindsight, it will mean something, but I see what you mean.  I'll think about it.

Hey, (wheedling tone) I put up a new chapter!  Do you have time?

What do you want reviewed in exchange for all the time you've been putting into my book?

I've looked at the chapter.  Review when I've time to write it.

Right now, you'll just have to hold on to the unbalanced ledger unless you can find something you didn't cover already.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I think -Dictates of Faith- is a great name.  No problem.  Its thematic structure parallels -Mandates-.

-33 C -- that's -27 F.  Ouch!  Wonder wnat it was in International Falls.

It only dropped to 8 F here last night.  No, I can't bring myself to call that 'balmy'--that word is reserved for people who go outside longer than it takes to get to the car and back.

There is an art to faking jargon.  Call it The Art of the Self-Sealing Stem Bolt.
I need to think about how this derrick would be put together, to understand how to make it fall apart.

So the Veil belongs not only to Behira but to The Player on the Other Side?

Does that mean that said Player can also have Conduits who act for him ... but are at most half-aware of it?

Told you I gave you a klew.  I'll look and see if I can find something I haven't covered.  I might have an hour or so tonight to review.

Just watched the news ...  Someone on the east coast had forgotten to close the fridge door, pissed off mr. Norris and misplaced a truck load of methane chunks.

Hope you guys will be ok!

ps - Amy, no Margaret River this weekend, we went to watch the Giants in Perth.  But do not fear, we're still planning to go before we leave!  wink

In Russia, bait eat fish----  Wait!  Is not in Russia??

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Nope.  West Virginia and southern US.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noodling  These boneheads go into catfish nests, stick their hands in and wait for the catfish to latch onto their arms.  Sometimes, the fish win.  Watch a video or two.  It's like the Darwin awards but better.

Janet!  Don't forget our toast!  Let me see.  To plot, good stories, and the best writing group to span the globe! My first thought was, "Chug!  Chug!  Chug!"  Either way, the Margaret River is the place to be! (for me in spirit - tips her glass and grins)

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I suggest you change the title of the chapter to Fish for Dinner.  If you give away too much, you lose the impact.  The creators of A Chorus Line found this out when the song they named T*ts and A** (from its refrain) fell flat in tryouts.  But as Dance Ten, Looks Three, it became a showstopper.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

So ... why was Sosol poisoned, and by whom?

So Angry Man's mojo linked into Anver's staff ... but Anver's staff is linked into Zyrtec's presence in the Guildhouse?  Hmm.

268

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Quiet Man's mojo linked into Anver's staff.  Anver isn't linked into Zyrtec's presence, but they inhabited the same building a couple thousand years apart.  As Chief Apprentice, Anver has access to any shielded room in Kha's dormitory, so that is why he could find Zytec's hidden room.

First impressions... glad something's spelled out for me. Someone stood up and said "there's the bad guy". Thank you for that... because if I have to guess, things get ugly fast. Alda and Lewellen had been following for quite a while now .... wink

Just messing with you K, I know what you mean and it's an astute observation!

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Thanks.  I've fought to give Jaylene a bigger presence.  First versions had her written as too passive.  I had to make it clear that she knows her job and where she fits within the church.  (without adding too much church to the story!)

Eh, baby steps.

It's paying dividends big time - so far, the balance between Jaylene and Alda is spot on IMO.  And I haven't seen Jaylene being passive at all.  To the contrary, she takes the lead, but let other do what they do best ie she uses each one's strength to the fullest and don't try to be the end all.
