Topic: New around here

Hi everyone, I've just joined and thought I would say a quick hello. I'm from Cardiff, Wales. I'm restarting writing after a gap of maybe 10 years, having previously completed a novel and done nothing with it. I'm now working on a completely new idea which I started writing just yesterday.

My first chapter isn't ready to post yet, but is it OK to get stuck in and start looking at / commenting on other people's work anyway? I'm not sure of the etiquette!

Re: New around here

Welcome, Martin!

Yes, it is a splendid idea to start looking around becoming involved. You might care to read and review a few stories, novel chapters, poems, etc. If you read posts that offer points, you can start to accumulate points in order to begin posting your writing when you are ready to do. It's a great community. I've been here over 12 years and have learned so very much about the proper way to present my writing. Many good authors and poets hang out here who are ready to offer support and suggestions for improvement.

I'm an American but my father's side of the family is Welsh ... left Wales in the early and mid 17th century. The were primarily from Pembrokeshire and Glamorgan.

I hope you enjoy your time here and find it helpful. Wishing you the very best.

Alan

Re: New around here

Thanks Alan - the welcome and advice are much appreciated!

Interesting to hear about your Welsh roots, too. Pembrokeshire is a beautiful part of the country.

Hi Martin, and welcome aboard!

TNBW is a great place to be--plenty of helpful people. I second Sideman's comments about getting involved. Look forward to checking out your work when you begin posting. Regards, Randall
