Connection access for messages

I wanted to send a message to one of my connections, but the scroller wouldn't go down far enough to allow me to see the entire list - and it was my last connection to whom I wanted to send the message. So, as an alternative, if I click on the private messaging system button on the author's page, will what I type in the Quikee box then be a private message?
