Topic: Paying for Renewal

I've just passed my 2 year mark of being in TNBW.  (Woohoo!)  However, I went to renew and am now in the 30 day trial membership.  I'd like to just pay and get it over with, but the site doesn't allow me that option until the end of my trial period.  Not that I mind, but you should have the option of taking my money at any time.

Just sayin :-)

Re: Paying for Renewal

Oh, and before you ask, I tried the email link as well.  Here's the response when I clicked the link.

Safari can’t open the page “https://secure.thenextbigwriter.com/users/upgrade.html” because Safari can’t find the server “secure.thenextbigwriter.com”

Re: Paying for Renewal

I'm with you, Amy. I've wanted to get my renewal out of the way so I don't forget. I hope Sol can either change this, or there's an email to remind us. The last think I want to do is have my membership lapse because I forgot what the end date of my trial was.

Cheers,
Don

Re: Paying for Renewal

With Don & Amy. Shouldn't have to worry about the trial period if we are Premium Founding Members. Should be able to go in that day and put in the new info. I don't have to worry until June, but I kind of like things more settled. If, as Founding Members, we wish not to renew, that should be done on that day. Don't renew. Just walk into the sunset.

Re: Paying for Renewal

I don't want to be booted if i forget though!!!

Re: Paying for Renewal

You won't get booted if you forget. When renewal time comes, it will ask you to choose what type of account you want. At that point you can either stay Premium or not.

It got pretty complicated on the billing side taking the old subscription, combining it with the free month, and then adding the ability to append a new membership on top of that.

Re: Paying for Renewal

So do we get a notice to renew a week before our benefits expire or do I need to take that day off from work?  I'm in my free month right now.  I've been notified to pay by the site  but don't have the option.  My goal with this website is to write without interruption, not to have to put a notice in my calendar and wait for the privilege.

I'm not whining, Sol.  I promise.  All I'm saying is that the notice shouldn't go out until the member has a chance to act on the information.  It's like having an alert that the electric for your house is going to be turned off...four weeks before it happens... and not being allowed to pay the bill until a window arrives at the eleventh hour.  If that was your situation, I'm pretty sure you'd have strong opinions too.

This sounds like a billing flaw that has been made obvious by the automatic notices of the new website.  Can it be corrected?  As the person who runs the site, you should have the ability to collect money whenever it arrives.  Failing to do so is just bad business.
