Topic: Is anybody out there?

K!  NJC!  Bimmy!  Erndog!  Janet!  Here's where we pick up where we left off.  I posted a new chapter for Mandates.  I also added a picture.  If I can have my face splashed over Facebook, then why not here?

Re: Is anybody out there?

I'm in!  BUT ....... I hit apply, and was immediately a member?!  Expected a bit of a process to be honest, a questionnaire, a blood test to see if it's blue-greyish-green and then a reply sealed with wax saying "Accepted" and instructions to a secret handshake.  And pushing it here, but a sword or a lance of some sorts would've been nice.  Oh well, I should get back to writing, want to find out if posting a chapter is as easy as joining a group around here.

Cheers
Janet

ps - Amy, Matthew wants his castle back!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

Poor Matthew...Would he like some cheese with that whine?  Personally, I'm glad he resents me.  That man is far too used to getting his way.  Sheesh.  A guy whose interrogation technique is composed of kissing women to overpower them and expecting them to crumple.  Big baby. :-)

(Here's the secret handshake...shhhhhh...don't tell anyone)

Re: Is anybody out there?

Hope you have twenty thousand gold to get Tazar out of prison, you're going to need him.  Because, when Matthew gives you "the look" while taking a slooowwww bite out of your cheese, and you realise with wobbly knees you've chewed off WAAYYYYY more than what you can handle (and there's no kissing yet), don't come running to the ruler of the northern skies world to save your sorry arse ...  big_smile

*swears vividly while she tries to untangle her arms*  &%$# this, forget I've ever mentioned a secret handshake, we're good!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

No offence, but Matthew has to earn a wobbly knee response before I fall victim to his charms.  And Tazar would kick Matthew to the curb.  I know because I wrote Tazar that way.  He doesn't lose very often.

You'll see.  If you catch up with Dictates, move on to Mantle.  Most of the other characters are going to be there as well, but Tazar is going to get a moment to shine during the battle scene.  That is the part that is in my head and waiting to come out, but I promised I would write this part linearly so I have to post the prelude first.

Battle!  (Name that movie with John Travolta)

Re: Is anybody out there?

I'll get busy then with catching up!  What I've seen so far of Tazar was impressive, you've really done an awesome job with him, I like him and is from the get go emotionally vested with him.  <----- I'm really not that easy to impress, but I do recognise a job well done.  You're seriously talented.

I was thinking to wave my dainty white handkerchief as a peace offering, otherwise this is never going to end, until you yelled Battle!  We're on!  smile  I propose to tie at least one of Matthew's hands behind his back when he meets this mysterious Tazar lad from the past, just to even things up, I'd say.  Don't want a blemish on Tazar's (so-called) impeccable record.  You haven't seen Matthew in action yet, so just believe me when I say this is the way to go.

I won't name that movie with John Travolta!  Unless it's Bolt ...  smile  I have more of a Gladiator theme going in my mind - you can say a lot of things about old Russ, but that man can rock a dress and is welcome ANYTIME to kick his shoes off under my bed!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

You're a hoot, woman.  Maybe the word shameless is better :-)  Just for that, I'm going to have Matthew as a character in the upcoming Games.  Tazar doesn't consider his record to impeccable, but he's survived a lot more blunt force than most trains.

Oh, the movie is Michael, where Travolta plays an archangel who can't pass up a fight, so he challenges the local bull to a butting of heads.  It has to be on Youtube.  Consider a quick view if that would amuse you.

Hmmm...maybe I'll make Matthew  the guy who cleans up the field and helps the wounded away from the fight.  Maybe he'll consider interrogating anyone female as long as they don't have a broken jaw.  Broken leg?  No problem.  He'll sweep the girl up in his arms and carry her off to the nearest comfy bed (snicker)

Re: Is anybody out there?

It's been a long time since I've watched Michael.  That was funny.  And I can still remember the bull scene.  The bull came out second?!  I was thinking for a moment you meant Battlefield Earth!  *ducks*  I haven't seen that movie, and I have better things to do with my time, so it ain't going to happen either.  If that's one of your favourite movies, it would probably end this blossoming "friendship" between us!  LOL

Sure, for a small fee Matthew could go and help out a bit!  One million dollars, whah-ha-ha-ha-ha (Mike Myers).  Broken jaw?  Also no problem for my hero - he'll make a plan!  hahahaha  Oh, and also, don't have any swords, lances or axes, even big rocks, lying around, only wounded people.  Matthew's dangerous enough as it is, he doesn't need more weapons!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

Hi Everyone. The system let me in, so I should probably introduce myself. I haven't been active on tNBW for a very long time. I used to be known here as Rita Aguilar. (Rita is my middle name; Aguilar my husband's surname. Those of you who knew me back then can continue calling me Rita.) tNBW's new look has me curious, so I'm going to try to be more active in the coming weeks.

I write fantasy and read a little bit of everything. Two of my novels (EOLYN and HIGH MAGA) were work shopped on this site before being picked up by Hadley Rille Books. My current WIP (DAUGHTER OF AITHNE) is the 3rd and final book for the series.

The last time I checked into tNBW, there was no such thing as a medieval fantasy/magic group, so I was very happy to discover this cluster of like-minded writers. I look forward to getting to know all of you and your work. I try to reciprocate all my reviews. If there are any special rules to how this group works, please let me know.

Pura vida.

Re: Is anybody out there?

My money is on Tazar, especially if Matthew represents House Thispit.

Re: Is anybody out there?

No special rules, Rita.  Just a lot of banter and disrespect from some.  And honesty, good intentions, and a group whose goal is to become better writers (from all).  I'll start a thread for your book.  Welcome home!

Hi Karin

In this case, we're good!  I'm behind with my reviews with the new site launching and so on, but I'll keep an eye out when you post something!  Glad to have you around!

Cheers
Janet

Re: Is anybody out there?

Thanks, Janet & Amy.  It's nice to be here. smile

I feel outnumbered ...  awesome, a fair fight!  hehehehe  *scampers away to the nearest corner with tears in eyes and heart-wrenching sobs*

I'm disappointed though, njc, didn't take you for someone who'd be rooting for the losing team.  Not considering Amy's imaginary/unrealistic world, Matthew ONLY presents House Norwood.  At the rate you guys team up and look for trouble, I'll have to work in a Tazar descendant in Northern Skies - worthy, after five years of intense effort, to empty Matthew's chamber pot in the morning and catching his toe-nail clippings ... (this is the best case scenario).  But this of course all depends on how badly Matthew is presented by Amy in the upcoming Games!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

Did a person who writes about fantasies actually declare that my fantasy world was unrealistic?  Shame!  Hypocrite!  I shall try to write the chapter about the Games just to work her last nerve (rubs hands in anticipation)

Re: Is anybody out there?

I'm actually looking so forward to The Games chapter now, it's not even funny!  I hope to see it soon!!!  I've edited the previous post to be more representative of what I meant.  You need to excuse me, I have a habit of not writing exactly what I mean.  sad  It's on my to-do list to grow and improve as a person!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

Never apologize for honesty.  Just apologize for having said it out loud.  (A quote from Master Kha in Acts)

Re: Is anybody out there?

F the edit.  Good quote - I like it!  As long as Matthew represents (a winning) House of Norwood in your world, I'd retract the unrealistic from my comment.  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

I haven't named three of the main Houses in the city.  One just became Norwood.

Re: Is anybody out there?

Oh dear.  I have created a monster!  The House of Norwood is Matthew's in Northern Skies as he is the Earl of Norwood.  His title was created approx. 200 years earlier, which works out at around 1400.  How does that work with your timeline?  Just imagine the confusion that will be going around on this site with two Houses of Norwood.  Let me know if you need ancestral names of the family!  wink

Re: Is anybody out there?

Hi all. Amy that castle looks a lot like the one on the hill above Sandahl in Methanasia on Pearl. I hope
Lord Dirdon doesn't get upset. LOL
Great forum here. I was delayed getting on the new site. My i-net service provider decided
to just arbitrarily slow down my speed and data volume for the past three weeks. It's
back now (tonight at least) so I've been up all night catching up on email, Facebook and
the new tNBW. I also was able to reset the Fantasy World Builders Group and I'm inviting
everyone interested to join.

Re: Is anybody out there?

Hello!

We need a place to discuss the Storyhole thread.  Hands down.  Disadvantage is that we are only allowed to be in 5 groups and everyone has 2 taken up by Sol and the Free TNBW/ Premium group.  I don't know if we are allowed 5 in addition to the mandatory groups (making 7 total), but that is also a possibility.  With these limitations, anyone wants to join a different thread with different people, ends up having to choose between these two fantasy groups.  Can we make a thread in this one for Storyhole?  That way, there is a place for the fantasy writers in this group to see your posts and donate stories.

Your call.  Otherwise, I'll be first in line for your group.  Let me know.

Are you going to publish The Wisdom of Kha the way Heinlein did with the Notebooks of Lazarus Long?  (Might be a good freebie when you're done.)

Re: Is anybody out there?

I have no problem with Storyhole here.

I do wish we didn't have to decide things like this.

Now I need to figure out how to get my stuff associated with this group.  (Not the  droubbles, though.)

Re: Is anybody out there?

I love the idea of adding 'the wisdom of Kha' in a section of my website.  That is a marvelous idea for something to interest those who browse through that type of material.   I already decided to add the short stories about my son and work to the 'meet the author' part.  The short stories like Dwarven Heart are going to be thrown up there for anyone who cares, along with the story about Airen and the giant.  Any other ideas?  Let me know over on my thread
