Topic: Erndog's thread

Post more than once a year.  I dare you!  Have you started on your first chapter?  More important, are you finished with your first chapter and ready to post?  Let me know.

Re: Erndog's thread

I have been lazy and stagnant with a serious case of writers block. Plus, I have been busy reading stuff by everyone else--one writer who shall remain nameless, kept adding chapter after chapter which reminded me of the movie NEVER ENDING STORY! So I thought I'd spend some time contemplating my bellybutton, (and it's a big one). I now have an idea and have started to write. I have the first page of outline. I still don't know how it ends, exactly, and I don't quite have all the characters mapped. It's difficult for me to start writing without knowing where I am going. Some writers can--It's hard for me. I've got the first chapter or so in the memory banks, but have not yet put pen to paper, or fingertip to key, yet.

I posted Birth of an Angel again revised with the feedback I got just to to see how everything works on the new site. It took a while with a few learning mistakes, but the posting, adding a picture, and first review went swimmingly. Although, I am still stumbling around trying to figure out the navigation. I've been to places I can't get back to.

Hawaii's been great, especially when I see the winter news on the mainland. My son is have a nasty relapse of his colitis, and I bashed my brains out on a sidewalk however, you'd be surprised how good weather can help mitigate that stuff. I still have a couple more weeks of being busy, then I hope to get back to catching up with the Never Ending Story and with Lee's world.

In the meantime, hang by your thumbs, dudes...

Re: Erndog's thread

Big baby.  Try keeping the Never Ending Story in your brain.  At least I'm not hiding anything (well, that isn't exactly true, but the intent is there) and you can see how deep the rabbit hole goes :-)

I just don't want to make the mistake of publishing too soon.  I want the quality of the first novel to be just as good as the last.  I also want to be able to fix the continuity if I make a mistake in the beginning.  That way, I'm not locked to a rule that I can't think my way out of.

Re: Erndog's thread

Hey, I found my way back-Thanks Amy. I'll have Chapter one done by the end of the week, I hope.  I have no title yet except "Book." pretty original, huh? Not rushing into publishing is smart...ducks in a row, and all that. My ducks are a lot like herding cats right now.

Re: Erndog's thread

Can't wait to see what you've got Ernie.
And Amy, my suggestion is to just carry on...nobody releases a perfect first book. The more you do, the more you learn and the better it gets... at least that's the theory.

Advice from one who knows. When I see how much work you put into the anthologies, you get a nod of admiration from me. I'm just delighted to have caught the boat so I can be along for the ride!

Re: Erndog's thread

I write a partial chapter, but can't find it anywhere, except on m y home page. I posted it yesterday.

Re: Erndog's thread

You're next after New Jersey.

Look at Sol's reply to me over on (I think) the site bugs thread.  I'll try his instructions a bit later.

Yeah.  Amy has a horse named Horse.

John Dickson Carr titled one story The Eight of Swords.

How about The Trey of Chamber Pots?

A well-trained Border Collie can herd ducks nicely.  I've seen the demo.

Re: Erndog's thread

Kha has a horse named Horse.  He named it.  Not me :-)  He has also had horses named Trouble, Batshit and Moron.  For him, 'Horse' is a compliment.  If Kha lived in this world/ place/ time, he would have a cat and name it Speedbump.

Ernie, go to the 'post your writing' on the top bar.  Your material will be displayed.  On the far left, underneath the long blue bar, you will see 'order' or something like that.  You can pick what works are displayed and in what order.  Put the new work as number 1 so that people will see it first.  Right now, the new story is dead last.  Just change the number to get the order to shift.

Re: Erndog's thread

Hmm.  I guess elves don't always get along with animals.  If Horse survives, Kha could have a little character growth.

Re: Erndog's thread

That made me laugh like Alda :-)

Re: Erndog's thread

Thanks for pumping up my ego :-)  I'd like to return the favor and help lift you out of this writer's block.  Send me what you've got for chapter 2.  Even if it is just an outline, let me see if I can give you ideas on what to elaborate on.

Let's get you writing again!
