Topic: Chapter republish question

When you revise a chapter, change the version from 1 to 2, and click "Save and View" do you have to republish in order to get others to see the revision? If you do, does that mean yet another chunk of points to do so? I just don't remember if that's the case.

Re: Chapter republish question

Geez--you're so meticulous! I never thought to label my corrected works as version 2,3,etc. (I wondered what that dang thing was for!) All along, I've been blithely adding to/ subtracting from my stories without regard to version. At times I even felt guilty for winding up with a post much longer than the one I paid for. Huh.
I've never been charged for the changes I made. Was that wrong? Did I cheat? I always figured, averaging out the number of words I added and subtracted, things balanced out. If I was wrong, I'm sorry.  JP

Re: Chapter republish question

LOL, JP. I am anything but meticulous. I like to keep things orderly, though. When I revise a chapter, I put it in another folder marked with the revision number. I have tons of disk space, so why not.

As an experiment, go to Chapter 1 that you just reviewed of TLTH and see if your review is still relevant (or if you can even see it now). The chapter version should be "2". You may have to clear you browser cache to get a fresh copy of the chapter.

Re: Chapter republish question

Whoa! First thing I noticed: the book had dropped off my home page. (Miss Oblivious here) And the chapter has been revised, which I expected, seeing how you're so meticulous. But I didn't find a notation regarding the version. Oh, and are you taking him out of Ohio? I know a lot of people make jokes about the state. (What's a Buckeye? A useless nut.)  JP

Re: Chapter republish question

Careful there. I've lived in Ohio for almost 26 years now, JP. smile

I didn't take him anywhere else, just eliminated the Ohio after Cincinnati and Columbus. Maybe I should put it back in.

As for the version number, perhaps it doesn't reflect on the public page, but I made sure it went from version "0" to version "1". I think that's what the "(V1)" in the title means. I'm pretty sure the suffix wasn't there on the first public offering.

Re: Chapter republish question

Okay, how about: What's round on both ends and high in the middle? Ohio. That one's relatively inoffensive. I remember now--Beaver Creek, right? We have a Beaver Creek near here in Arizona, too. Look for it on the map near Sedona.
Thanks for the lesson in site navigation.
Clueless signing off.

Re: Chapter republish question

If you want people who have already reviewed it to review it against, best republish. It will const you the points but will also give points to the people who have already reviewed it and therefore already got points. Also republishing will put it up as a new chapter so people who have already read it will know that it has been updated. (Otherwise, they might never notice.)

If it doesn't matter to you if people reread it or not, just save and don't republish. No need to spend points if you don't have to. smile

Re: Chapter republish question

Ah! That's what I was looking for, Rebecca. If I don't republish, I don't get charged the points. That can get expensive at over 8 points per chapter. Thanks.
