I'm behind on heaps of reviews. Do not fear, I haven't forgotten about you either.
But unlike Amy, you only have to look forward to witty and marshmallow and hot chocolate feel good reviews from me!
We'll see if I can convince her to come over to the dark side. Right now, she's stuck on the basic site and doesn't realize the benefit of hanging out with the fun crowd.

For every feel good review you leave Kajo kills a kitten
Hope Kajo has lots and lots of kittens.
Hawks, Kajo, serial killer wannabees, cars, and coyotes haven't even made a dent in the population. Feel free to give nice reviews Janet. Kitten killer K (call him KKK for short) can just go stuff himself.

LOL! Serial killer wannabees and cars!!!
ps - we're trying to get RM to join and stay? Just checking. But then again, this is probably better. Makes the decision an informed one at least!
Yeah, we take over a thread until we get kicked out. (But then NDP actually asked for help with curses, right?)
Yup. He invited us in. We're like Goldilocks. We mess up the house and steal the pillows.
Yeah, but it's all just right.
I'm here. Took me forever to figure out how to remove my Romance Inc group to come here. I was bumped down to Basic *Boo* and can only have one group for now till I upgrade in the New Year.
Whoopee!
Roxy, Meet the bunch. Janet does historical romance. She moved here from Australia this year and has just seen snow for the first time. It's quite an exciting experience for her. Read all of her posts and add exclamation points.
NJC (otherwise known as New Jersey) likes to bury his apartment in books, clean his apartment for fun, and talk about pluperfect tenses. If you ignore the crusty backside, he's quite a nice guy.
Kenny (otherwise known as K or KHip) is a mystery and likes to keep it this way. He says he lives in Canada and doesn't have a passport. He also says that the romantic light of crack pipes is what he sees out his window, so he stays inside mostly. However, his employer pays him half-time to ride the train each morning and evening, ($$$$) so I question this. He is able to critique and write monstrous amounts of reviews. He is also plagued by honesty. Terminally so. Feel free to pick on him. He likes abuse. He's really just a cutie-puppy in disguise.
Elisha is new, lives in Oregon, just moved to a new apartment, and likes to laugh at us. Note that she is within spitting distance of Janet. However, I get to visit Janet first because she owes me dinner.
Ernie(Erndog) haunts this site, but doesn't comment much. He is living 'the life of Riley' in Hawaii. Read his Star Trek book. He got the characters down pat. He is the one who taught me about head hopping. I still do it but I'm soooooo much better than I used to be.
Me? I'm your expert on wounds and hurting your characters because I work as a PA in Trauma Surgery. I refuse to be intimidated by K. I want to grow up to be like New Jersey. I have an autistic son (the source of most of my short stories.) My book is so large it will never publish. And while I like snow, I do not like cleaning my house (like New Jersey-he is all over that stuff)
I am willing to write the bio of anyone else who asks. Otherwise, feel free to introduce yourself.
I don't know much about Dirk (Norm D'Plume) except that he is a Ricardo Montalban fan, and has joined Facebook so that he can find out details of others yet never reveal anything about himself. He is a history buff so he writes Science Fiction. (Read his stuff - you'll understand) I estimate his age at somewhere between 17 and 50.
Unlike K (who I think lives in his mother's basement), Dirk seems to be gainfully employed. He spends a lot of time recreating the Roman Empire in space, including money increments, days of the week, etc. If he likes you, you end up in his novel. I got embodied as a quack researcher who nearly wiped out the human race. The resulting mob eviscerated me. Beware helping Dirk. It can be a traumatizing experience.
So, I guess my story is this..... T'was a dark and stormy night.... just kidding. lol.
My story starts with my novel 'Numb'. She's the first in a trilogy and my first novel since returning from a three year hiatus away from my two previous self published novels . Since returning to writing, I have moved genre's and I am working to aim high--Harlequin high--but I know this is not without its own set of problems to overcome, first off getting my opening chapter editor worthy.
Since writing Numb, I have written its sequel--Robbie's Rare Gem and I am working on the third novel, currently Untitled, right now. I have submitted Robbie's Rare Gem to Carina Press and I am awaiting final judgement.
With the help of Miss Amy S and her brutally honest take on my first chapter I am for the first time seeing the issues it has that will keep it from where I want it to go. My brain can be a hit harry-carry and I think it is coming out in this novel. I have since rewritten my entire first chapter of Numb bringing it down significantly, but still with some flaws that need fixing.
If you would like to read my first chapters of all three novels, I have them on my page here for people's take. I am also hoping that the mistakes I made in Numb didn't carry over, so I would love anyone's take on this.
So....yeah, this is where I sit.....sigh.
Oh, I forgot to mention Rebecca Vaughn. She has done more research about her time period than I've read in my lifetime. Her stories are about real people…an intimidating accomplishment when they lives more than 600 years ago. (or is is 800?)
Don't know much about her. She's secretive that way.
Roxy, FYI I'll take a look at Numb's first chapter for you.
A
Amy S, you killed me with the intro to our fellow group members. LOL.
I'll give you mine then....I am a Romantic Suspense writer who loves to dabble in the dark side, hence my Mystery/Suspense addiction. I have to listen to music when I write which is any time, any day as long as I am not bothered with husband, kids, work and responsibilities. I'm also in Canada, more northern than I'd like, but not as remote as I envision my retirement. I enjoy reviewing works on this site, but find some difficult to give a positive 50 words, which I assume is commonplace 'cause we all can't be as amazing as Dean Koontz or Sharon Sala. I strive to make it into one of the Harlequin lineups before my 40th birthday.....I still have a few years to go, so my hopes are damn high!!!
Yes, we had an entertaining discussion on EF's thread about K's approach to characters ... a little gross, actually, but amusing.
I am in Ontario, right on the shores of Lake Superior.

The Romance group is sad to see you go but will still be there next year
*puts on medieval hat* There are a lot of overlap between the groups, a lot of Romance members lurk around here (K, Rebecca, me, etc.), but if I were limited to one group only, this will be it. The Romance group is relatively active to other groups, but no one beats this group. It's a team effort, but a lot of it is due to Mother Hen aka Amy. She's like glue, keeps everything together. And she is really good with helping others to come up with new ways to bleed their characters out too! Very helpful for medieval times when people got sliced and quartered and hanged and shot with arrows.
*puts on Romance hat* The issue though is not so much getting IN to the medieval group, it's getting OUT - Amy will never let you go. It's mostly a good thing. Mostly!
Also, I do Historical Romance with a capital R. It's proper Romance. Although everyone denies reading Romance, liking Romance, or wanting anything to do with Romance. They keep on insisting it's a 'mystery' with some romance (no capital R). *sigh* In all seriousness, they can call it what they want, as long as they keep on reading and reviewing NS! LOL I'm amazed at all the insightful comments and suggestions I have received from outside of the genre already. Tons of good stuff.
So yeah, Romance is my thing. That, and also conveying - with minimal use of exclamation marks might I add - what it feels like to be a 42-yr old kid seeing snow for the first time.
RM, being part of basic also means you will not be able to view any in-line reviews. It's not the end of the world, but a lot of people prefer the in-line format. So if the reviews seem slow at first, it could be because of that - I know a few had expressed annoyance when they are not warned that someone is only part of basic, and only to realize that when they've spend a lot of time doing an in-line review that never gets replied to. So I'd suggest mentioning that you're Basic only and any reviews should be regular only until you let us know otherwise ...
Oh, great point. Forgot about that. Good thing I chose a narrative for her first review. That was a happy accident.

This is what I bring to this group - awesomeness. Yet, I've missed that little bit in your intro. *taps foot waiting for amy to reply*
Did I say that Janet is so awesome that she even nitted me on making my poor character more wan and weak after he lost a couple liters of blood? Me...the one who picks on everyone for their choice of injuries?
I missed the awesome part because you were too busy gushing about snow. Oh, forgot to tell you. The appeal is only there on days that you are off work. Other days your line will be, "God, more f***ing snow!
KHippolite, yes I am outside the Sault. Janet Reid and Amy S, I will do that for sure. I personally prefer the in-line reviews as well. Thanx for all the advice guys.
