Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

I don't think I'd call it wisdom, especially if it means you must never thrust a spear into the monster's belly.

You'll always have a reader who'll turn Twin Peaks into the literal translation of Grand Tetons.  How much do you let that churl spoil things for everyone else?

Sometimes listening to Jack Spratt makes sense, darn it.

I just remember Bimmy posting that pic of the incredible inflating hose on your thread, K. And it wasn't in reference to descriptions about a staff. I seem to remember it had something to do with…um…Kajo maybe?

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

It is said that =The Minstrels Sing of an English King= is the dirtiest song in the English language.  I can't actually judge that, not being well-studied in that area.  But nearly the cleanest line in the thing is "G*d d*mn the dirty old b*st*rd king of England!"

Anyway, the description of the monarch's ... nether anatomy ... would no doubt inspire Kajo.

I need to read it. In always looking for a new and interesting way to curse.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Google can find it.  I'm not sure it's quite what you want.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

If Alda looks under the mar's tail, she should end up grossed out and a little confused.  Not all critters are put together in quite the same way.  Cats.  Snakes.  Birds.  And (I have read) pigs.

You don't actually have to tell us what Alda sees there smile  I'm actually a little afraid of your imagination here.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

That's funny:-) I'm in the process of trying to beat the mar. All she has is an axe and barely enough strength left to walk

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Bring the discussion of the monster's anatomy over to my thread, please. This is REALLY good and helpful. I'm not saying that I'm going to use the last few posts word-for-word, but you guys have really made me think.

Your girl mar should have a V. Dentata, with tentacles to pull the mate in.

No, just a violent coupling involving a blood donation.  And maybe the anti-coagulents injected, snake-tooth style, are also potentially lethal to humans ... so Alda had better be careful.  That blood/hormone transfer leaves the two addicted to each other, with predicable behavioral consequences.  It also means the the survivor won't survive for long.
Squicky enough for you and Janet?

Oh, and maybe the male has injecting spines too, much shorter, that are only exposed in use.  Of course the respective spines/teeth and scarring zones must match.  And when one of them finally becomes too scarred for the exchange, they both die horribly.  Hey, it's the Changeling Plague, the work, presumably, of the Defiler

Maybe the injecting 'teeth' on the tentacles ... and maybe the both have same

Other material discussed:

I was thinking Amy ... this is code for 'are you sure you want to read on' ... because those Mars hurt Tazza and Alda, when (not if) she lift that tail, make sure his willy is disproportionally small, and I mean, minute when I say small, to show them what happens when no-good crits look for shit with the peeps I like.
It must be so small, Alda must confuse it for a female (Jay can weigh in and say it's easy to mistake but look, see the tiny raisins just behind the tiny bump, that's his nuts). No, really, so small Alda will wonder out loud how Mars ain't extinct yet.
Apologies if this is too much information. 'Twas a boring drive to work this morning and I had nothing else to ponder over ... And also, no pressure, just throwing ideas out there that you can use or not, this is your story! The look on njc's face will be good enough

Some pseudo-swearing: Fribbling, fardle, farlicking, dumboodling, ferooking, toesucking.

Sorry for the recap.

Thanks guys!

I think I need to think about Roman days of the week or something as thank you to Dirk. His thread is smoking.

Why not let the mar win?

This is a klassic

If the mar knows he/she is going to die, it up the stakes. Heaps. Racing against time. Off the chart. Nothing to lose, you're going to die anyways? Better make it worth it and take out as many as you can in the process IMO.

Pretty good!

And who says the male mar has just two?  Put one between each pair of toothed tentacles.

hahaha, making up in numbers for the size?! Poor thing. More targets/bulls-eyes for Alda to kick. What's not to like?

Guarded by those poison-teeth tentacles.

OK, the next chapter is going up. The mystery will be solved. Don't be worried, Janet. I'm getting to the goodie parts in the next one.

Re: Acts/ Dictates/ Mandates/ Mantle - Amy's Thread

Alright, I don't know what the deal is with the review box. It hates me. Only missed one sentence, but oh well... here's the full review.

"Hey Amy! First of all, I really need to learn from your action scenes. Absolutely wonderful.

All of your descriptions are very clear to me except for one small detail. When you say "Alda was frozen...", do you mean that she couldn't move out of fear, or that she was pinned between shields (as these are described in the previous sentence) ? At first, I thought she was pinned, but now that I look back on it, the former makes more sense.

"Tazar was going to climb down here to safety if she had to improvise a corset and put him in a dress." <- This one made me laugh. smile"

Either way, the working parts are hidden by the tentaclulo-dental apparatus.  But those little surrounding nubbins are visible in the male, if the tentacles are in their resting position.

Review done, that chapter read EASY! smile

I beg to disagree, Janet.  I'm afraid I flayed it.  I'll probably find stuff on second pass, too.  Sorry for the grim news.

Hmmm. I thought it was an autocorrect of 'flossing'. What does that say about me? Not good...not good...
