Good luck and good writing!
Got no writing done last night. But I have to say, the shift was interesting. What is it about the heat that makes people shoot shit? I mean, come on guys!
Back to the coal mines for more...

Are we talking diarrhea or gunfire here? :-)
Guns. Definitely guns.
Drunks.
Pedestrians vs cars.
Drunk pedestrians falling.
Gunshot wounds.
Earned my paycheck last night.
Sorry, but you asked.
A
Amy, look up 'theopnuesty'. I tripped over it in the Pitman dictiionary while checking the outline for 'theory'.
Breathed into by god? Expressing and writing exactly what God intended as an expression of His will?
It applies to Dirk's book, certainly :-)
I was thinking of Behira and Saundon, actually, and Conduits.
Or maybe the Chronomancer...
Dirk,
There are several moments where Anver does things he couldn't do before (strength-wise). He gets better after the pneumonia and never coughs after a day of recovery. He had an unknown advantage when dueling Alina. He holds Katerin down w one hand when she resists taking Alina's wand. He has way too much endurance during their love scene. His batting scene in the crypt is never about endurance...only about being overwhelmed. There are other examples. Will try to remember them and get back to you.
I missed all of those clues. Either I'm duh! (quite likely), or they weren't as obvious as you think. Your other readers would be a better judge.
Once you catch a couple, you're open to more. But you want the reader to -almost- catch them. Where would Agatha Christie have gotten if her readers had caught most of her clues?
I think you didn't notice them because Anver didn't. He just feels healthy and fit.
Wait till he realizes that Founders have an aura that makes worshippers of Behira more obliging. (Remember Kat's willingness to help Sil? This makes Katerin's relationship with him suspect. Did she fall in love with him or did the Founder make it happen?)
I'm gonna mess with him. Poor Anver...
And the route to this lies throgh the catacombs? That suggests that there's more down there than the destruction of a Horror.
My goal is something like Babylon 5. We'll see if I can make it happen.
... but Faith Manages.
So ... we're going to see the close of the Age of Diminishment? And maybe of Magery as well, as the Guildhouse is called home along with Behira and Saundon?
And presumably we'll learn why Kha gripped the Black Staff. Does he even know what happened? Or did he lose that memory in the Earthwound? Interesting that it hasn't been discussed; one might almost wonder if it's under the Veil.
To whom did it belong, anyway? Faulter?
Could the same lash-up that Anver used to clear Kha be used to overwhelm even a mage like Faulter?
He lost that memory. However, if I can find a free moment, I'll write about one of the things he intuited from the clues. BTW, it's very useful to see where these details are leading you to guess about the overall plot.
Of the four questions you asked, 50% are right on the money. I just can't tell you which ones or you might stop reading:-)
I actually asked more than four. But if you're trying for B5, it's hard not to guess you're trying for the end of an era, and maybe the end of all on which that era stands.
Guess I'm gonna have to write an Armageddon :-)
Y'know, when you finish with this, I'm gonna lose my best reviewer
I'm thinking of listing Amy as my co-author. :-)

Hmmm. Not the hidden Shadowbook page? Man, Zyrt is really gonna raise Kha's consciousness! Kha is starving to understand and Zyrtec keeps feeding him magic nightmare mushrooms.

If a key element of this series is about the end of an era, then I strongly suggest making that a more obvious possibility. Give us a sense of that to carry us through the series. Something that binds the whole series together from the beginning, which is what I keep bugging you for from the outset of Acts.
I've finally switched to the correct first book, so I'm really looking forward to understanding this story as intended.
With B5, that possibility doesn't occur until it becomes a necessity, somewhere between seasons three and four.
What we have here are stories that are woven together, with overtones of dark magic and supernatural involvement. They come to a common climax, via multiple streams of rising action.
The need to break =Acts= into two books will leave the storylines a little out of balance unless all three storylines join in it. In which case, it might make sense in the final version to open the =Mantle= with the less dominant storylines (ie, not Anvers) and then tie them together quickly.
Only if you plan on writing Merran's story for another five years. At this rate, I'll publish in 2030.
