Topic: Calling all TNBW Artists

Hi everyone,

I know we have some talented artists on the site and I'd like to enlist your help. I'd like to create an image that will go in some ads as well as the homepage of the site (replacing the image of the moon). I wanted to see if anyone had an interest in putting something together for this. In return, I'd promote the artist and pay $30 for any image that is used. If you are interested, let me know.

Requirements:

Original artwork that captures your feeling of what it is like to be a writer. It can deal with the creative process, the imagination, the physical typing of information. I'd just like for it to be inspirational.  This will serve as a key piece in getting potential members to take a look at the site and potentially become members.

I'm not an artist, but my favorite image that comes to mind is someone sitting hunched in front a computer, with a clock that says 2 AM, eyes bugging out of the face, and with frazzeled hair. Perhaps a pencil/pen behind the ear. Papers and books lying/stacked everywhere. One book could say dictionary, another thesaurus, and another grammar on the spines.

Or of a late middle-aged pudgy man hosting a PSA ad for kids' reading on all the CBS stations carrying the TV mini-series of his co-authored book which he will be watching on his Palm Beach estate, smoking a cigar and drinking bourbon and branch.

Can you please tell us more about layout. I assume you want a landscape view that allows branding text to be strategically placed in an image that doesn't detract from site name and links. WIll the graphic need borders to place link images or buttons in? I assume JOIN & LOGIN textareas and textfields will be necessary. Will this be a scrolling page or static page? Will you need variations for IPad, Smartphones and Microsoft Hub, etc?
Will the graphic change on each refresh, requiring multiple images? Can you give dimensions needed for, forget the word, dense pixelation... for clear viewing?

HI Max,

The image should be landscape with some space to put text. If you want to get some idea of what we need, logout of the site and go to the homepage. There is an image of a moon. This is the idea. We can overlay text and links.

Once we have the image, we can modify it so that it will work across all devices. We just need some artistic talent applied to it. The graphic will not refresh - just one image. Unless we get so many great submissions that we have more than one to show off.

The dimensions should be something like 1920 x 572 pixels.

If this doesn't mean anything to you, don't worry. We can take the drawing or artwork and scan it in.
