Re: Amazon & new Kindle

I'm not sure how much I like this. I think authors price a book based on its length and quality. If the price is too high, people won't buy it. Amazon's new pricing system seems like an artificial way of trying to determine the value of a book. Why do this when a simpler mechanism already exists?

Re: Amazon & new Kindle

Amazon and Kindle which are review driven will become even more so now.

Re: Amazon & new Kindle

It's not for regular Kindle, just lending and unlimited. I don't think I've earned a penny from lending and unlimited. It's like they checked them out of the library. This way, maybe, I'll get money for that. I've gotten paid every month for regular downloads.

Ah okay, I see. I didn't read the article closely enough. That makes sense then. I believe this is how Scribd and Oyster do it already.

Re: Amazon & new Kindle

It's too bad Google or Apple don't compete head-on with Amazon in the self-publishing space. It would take a Goliath to break Amazon's stranglehold on the book industry. Barnes & Noble should be the obvious competitor, but they can't compete as long as they're weighed down by brick and mortar overhead.

Re: Amazon & new Kindle

Janet, what fraction of a Kindle e-book's price goes to the author? According to Lulu.com's website, it's a very small fraction. I'm curious how Lulu.com competes with CreateSpace....
