Bio: Sydnee Elliot, writer and painter, was born in Boston and studied at Boston University. After graduation and one failed marriage she moved to Berkeley. Three years later she moved to Las Vegas and worked in the gambling industry for twenty years. While in Las Vegas she studied playwriting at UNLV. In 1995, Sydnee moved to Greece, her life-long dream finally achieved. During her ten-year stay on the island of Kythera, Sydnee wrote fifty short stories, one novel, painted and sold hundred of paintings, and designed unique clothing for women. Upon receiving news that she was soon to be a grandmother, she returned to the states. Sydnee’s full-length manuscript, Polly Brilliant’s Wild Dance, aka Remember Me??? short-listed in fifth place in the Writer’s Forum Magazine Novel Contest in England. BBC World Service Radio produced Ms. Elliot’s short story, In Memoriam, in 1998. Her short story, Funny Stuff, was a finalist in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Contest, and Obituary was short-listed in third place in The Writer's Digest contest. The Long Short Story, an online ezine, chose She Never Noticed the Flowers as story of the month. Ms. Elliot has had numerous stories published in small literary magazines in England and on various ezines. Insolent Rudder published She Never Noticed the Flowers in July, 2008. Stone Stories will be published in the November, 2008 issue of Patchwork Path. Before committing to writing fiction, Ms. Elliot received two grants from the Nevada State Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, a Federal Agency for productions of two full length plays, Tell Me That You Love Me, Abe Schwartz and Reservations. See How Freely I Dance Now, St. Benedict, a one-act play, was presented at UNLV by the Allied Arts Council Theater Division’s Off-Year Festival sponsored by the Nevada Community Theatre Association in Reno and the Theatre Arts Department of UNLV. City Weeds, placed second in the JOHN McHugh MEMORIAL AWARDS sponsored by the Allied Arts Council Playwriting Competition. Poetry Greece, published on the island of Corfu, featured Ms. Elliot as artist of the month and printed several of her poems along with her paintings under the name of Ellen Karatzaferis. Sydnee resides in Las Vegas where she is writing a new novel, Getting What You Deserve and editing Polly Brilliant’s Wild Dance.
